Mm.
42:59
And so we might make mistakes.
43:01
And even more problematically, like we might make the picture or the narrative that we're already starting to develop much less complicated than it actually is, right? We might think, "Oh, this person is selfish," and maybe we're right.
43:16
Maybe there's a part of them that's selfish.
43:17
Most of us have some part of us that's selfish, but there may be so much more to it and, and we don't allow ourselves to gather that information if we're invested.
43:28
And again, this is an unconscious thing that happens, but if we're so invested in like that person is X, Y, or Z.
43:35
And you can even think about this like with political ideology, right? If we think, "Okay, I'm this party and people from that party are X, Y, and Z." And look, we found all sorts of information that confirms our theories of people from that party are lazy or selfish or lacking in compassion, whatever the case may be.

Hmm.

Mm
61:01
...
61:01
there are so many things that are therapeutic in the world, and the science of psychology and therapy is really helpful, but what it often points to is, like, there's lots of ways to do this work.
61:13
There's lots of ways to, you know, develop stronger relationships.
61:17
There's lots of ways to grow our fitness and to, you know, do all the things.
61:21
And therapy is one terrific way, but there's lots of ways that we can sort of take what we know about why therapy works and a- adapt it for our everyday lives.
61:30
And I do think Swimrun is a, is a really great example of that, where you're, like, working through difficult relationships and difficult circumstances and learning and growing and, you know, being a part of nature and being a part of community.

Well, first of all, like, how did you develop this idea? Where'd you get it from? And then how do you think about using positive regard in your Swimrun partnership and in your life partnerships?
