Not only does nobody bring up the fact that he is the one that put the child in harm's way, but they also don't bring up the fact that sanctuary cities require ICE to conduct these kinds of operations, whereas if ICE could pick these people up in the jail or the courthouse on a detainer, we'd never even see it, much less have any drama attached to it.

Right.

When l- when local law enforcement officers are able to collaborate, um, again, we're not enforcing federal laws, but we also are law enforcement officers.

And so if we know someone or we, we happen to come across s- someone, identify them, they happen to have a detainer, uh, in the past, when I was on patrol, we would call that agency.

If they were available in the area, they would immediately come to the scene.

If not, then we would take them to the dis- the detention facility, uh, so that way we can go back on patrol, and they would hold them there until that federal agency came and picked up.

We collaborated with them.

The real issue is they're enforcing laws these very politicians that are grandstanding on it helped pass.
