What was that like, and how did it shape your interest in weed science?
4:16
Yeah, I grew up on a fourth-generation family farm.
4:18
I did a lot of farming with my dad, and now my brother is taking over that farm, so I'm always interacting with him a lot.
4:24
I was always invested in, in making sure the farm was operating at its highest potential, which isn't always easy, but that's kind of what motivated me to go to, uh, do my undergraduate in agronomy, is just to get a better understanding on how we could make the farm run more efficiently.
4:39
I didn't really get interested in weed science until, um, I was doing an agronomy internship with Cargill.
4:46
Myself and the lead agronomist had gone out to a field, and the farmer was, uh, suggesting that the chemical that they use, I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly, I think it was like quizalofop in canola.

They were trying to control wild oat population, but they had kind of suggested that the, the herbicide wasn't working as it should be.

How do you explain what you do when someone asks?
