So do you want to just demystify a bit what you mean by compounding for someone that's listening and perhaps what they need to look out for from these shiny objects that are promising these ridiculous compounding returns?
6:56
Yeah, I suppose I'll need to preface it by there's three areas of your investing portfolio.
7:02
There is your long-term hold storage value and whether you're getting that from gold or a lot of people watching this will be getting that from Bitcoin and you're not really touching it.
7:11
You're not speculating, trying to sell at the tops and rebuy back at the bottoms.
7:15
It's just what you feel comfortable getting a store of value in.
7:17
And that's something that we teach as a part of our journey on that A to Z of becoming a proper investor.
7:23
You then come into more of your active portfolio, which is your middle part.

12 MINS LATER

19:11
education is a key word and i think that's why we connected so well because we both just bang on about education i got slaughtered by bish when i was in melbourne because he kept saying you can't just keep saying education but i strongly believe that you have to start with education regardless of what you're doing in anything to be honest but definitely in bitcoin and the crypto space Do you want to touch on your thoughts on education? So I know you've mentioned it a few times today, um, but then more directly into Imperial wealth and the messaging that you're getting across to them.
30:01
simulation
30:02
so fx and it's it's leveraged um people should not start there okay um straight out you should not start with leverage but you'll learn quickly but you're not going to make money all right yeah so if you want to paper trade and learn and whatever then go for it but You're going to lose money.
30:19
So I, because of that background I had and I saw what it did to people's portfolios, I got out of that industry, started mining store, you know, a few years later started Imperial Wealth and investing is the core of what we teach our clients.
30:33
Okay.
30:34
We probably recommend our clients to go through six months minimum, probably 12 months of investing.
30:42
Now, what's the difference between investing and trading? Investing is just buying the assets for a long term horizon or approach.
30:51
You may sell out of those assets after three, six months in crypto is long term, but you're not sitting in this position where you're going to get a margin call and you're trying to swap out and take these opportunities and all that.

7 MINS LATER

37:51
Can you just help people understand what you invest in and why? Yeah,
20:02
Like I was scared to go to my middle school when I was 14, you know, like that's a positive sign.
20:08
Yeah, for sure.
20:11
And I, yeah, I think he, I think he is supposed to be a character.
20:14
Like I'm pretty sure he had some soundbites from like interviews at the world juniors and the Olympics.
20:19
Like people were asking him who is like, idol is or who he compares himself to and he's just like me or whatever no no but like so i'm interested to see what he's like when he when he comes to new york in interviews so hopefully he's a he's a character um and then i i think the other piece of that just like there's carson carrolls i'm sure people will look at him i think he's playing in north dakota this year um And I use probably the other one aside from Reed that a lot of people were, were calling out for.
20:52
And I think that the tough thing right now with scouting is the junior landscape has changed so much.
21:02
The quality of the leagues, like I, a couple of years ago, the WHL was the strongest league, probably of the, of the, uh, the three Canadian junior leagues, or at least the one producing the highest amount of high quality NHL prospects.

31 MINS LATER

52:09
That's when I get concerned.
3:40
Nora want them to do?
3:42
She wants them to both tag monarchs, so to catch them and put this tag on their forewing.
3:48
And each tag has this little inscription on it that says, return to Museum of Toronto, Canada.
3:57
And then it has this unique serial number to basically identify who did the tagging, where it was tagged, and where it was recovered.
4:05
And so she puts out these calls for help in newspapers, magazines.
4:10
And so by the 1960s, you have this, you know, hundreds of people in Canada and the United States mainly who are contributing to this.
4:18
And even some from South Dakota.
5:37
So
17:38
So I think increasingly we've got to become the collector, curator and disseminator of real experiences, honest brokers of the truth, which I don't think we're honest brokers of the truth right now, to be fair.
17:51
Yeah, I think that's an interesting way to look at it because all of this, that being in the knowledge business, being in the wisdom business, whatever you want to call it, all of that depends on quality of data, doesn't it? And I think you've got quality of data in several different layers.
18:07
You've got the stuff that you've just mentioned, how many...
18:10
How many rooms are available in this accommodation? What are the opening times? What's on the menu? That's your hygiene level of data.
18:20
But then there's a layer of data on top of that to give that genuine authoritativeness on, you know, to be that local concierge.
18:29
you like these things i know you like these things and these are things i'm able to recommend to do that in a digital concierge kind of way digital space there's a layer of data that needs to sit above all of that which is i'm going to tell you what my for one of the better term what my vibe is so i like places that are really buzzy and lively when i get when i go and eat you know that is it not traditional data or information that exists So somebody's got to be collecting that data and saying, this is a place that's good for somebody who wants a really lively, entertaining, you know, night out.
19:01
Maybe there's local singers on, you know, when you're when you're dining, because some people that's not going to appeal to.

9 MINS LATER

28:17
How do we square that circle?
7:56
Mm.
7:56
And part of that rebranding exercise is trying to articulate the story of Destination Core a bit.
8:02
So feel like I might be well-versed to answer this question.
8:06
Um, really, the opportunity came for, for Destination Core.
8:10
We, as part of a, we're part of a bigger agency called the Jacob Bailey Group, who had worked in place marketing in a variety of different formats for over 20 years, you know, in branding, uh, delivery of, of various online and offline, um, campaigns, and we sort of saw a recurring theme with all of these places that we worked with.
8:34
Sometimes they'd come and ask us, "Can you help us with a website as well as part of the branding project?" And, you know, kind of thought, "Well, most of what we do is, is quite repeatable here." But we also realized that there wasn't perhaps as much competition in that part of the, in that part of the market as there, as there could be.
8:53
And a lot of the feedback that we were getting from clients was not necessarily always positive around their experiences with sort of incumbent agencies that specialized in building destination websites.

20 MINS LATER

28:49
And so if there's somebody that's doing bottom-of-funnel performance marketing and really hasn't invested in generating excellent content for their destination to engage and inspire potential visitors, they're probably not the right fit for this because this is definitely much more conducive to somebody that's taken a content-first approach.
3:53
What are the big issues facing Aussie crypto and Bitcoin investors?
3:58
Yeah, spot on, Adam.
3:59
We'll definitely weave some of that budget stuff in there because it's very important as well.
4:03
But specifically on what's happening in Australia at the moment, there's two legislations that you really, really need to be aware of if you're a crypto holder and you care about your privacy.
4:13
The first one is AUSTRAC's and that was a 2024 reform that was passed.
4:20
And what happens on the 1st of July is the travel rule is going to be implemented on the back of that.
4:26
And I'll talk about in detail what the travel rule means because it's very alarming.

27 MINS LATER

31:54
... after you pay the power bills and after you take into account the, the cost of the capital to buy the machine, are you getting Bitcoin cheaper, or are you getting it slightly less or more expensive? Like gi- give us a snapshot of that.
BlakeHOST
6:02
So what is going on here? Thank you.
6:04
Yeah, we always like to look at price at relative, right? So as I mentioned, Bitcoin was at $120,000.
6:11
Now it's at $80,000.
6:12
It's been as low as this year as $58,000.
6:15
So I think in relative context, when it was at $120,000 last year, in an environment where interest rates are quite high, geopolitical is not at its best stance, US debt is out of control, there's a lot of question marks in the global economies, right? And so for it to be at $120,000 then I think was a great price.
6:37
For it to drop down to that $58,000 was a bit devastating compared and relative to other markets.
6:44
I think gold and silver really took, I suppose, investors' risk-off approach.

8 MINS LATER

BlakeHOST
15:19
But it's really interesting about how this could have played out and who has hierarchy in, I suppose, creditor pool here.
96:46
[laughs]
96:46
I'm sure some of you have heard this and know what I'm talking about.
96:49
Others, maybe this is new.
96:50
But, uh, in this study you have t- uh, a dinner set.
96:53
It's got 24 items in it, and they're all perfect, uh, in perfect condition.
96:58
And you have a group that goes in there and evaluates it by itself, and they say, "Oh yes, uh, this is worth about $30." And then you have, uh, you know, the, another group look at, uh, that same set, set A that t- that, of those items plus other items.
97:17
And some of those items... are broken and chipped.

5 MINS LATER

102:48
Good for analysis
