You know, drones in particular is what I'm thinking of, but I'm open to other options here too, is sort of the great equalizer that has allowed these, you know, more middle powers to be able to stand against, you know, the superpowers of the world and not win, but not lose.

Let's start there.

I describe this as modern warfare has changed, as demonstrated in Ukraine and now Iran, in two fundamental ways.

I call it the battlefield geometry and the battlefield algebra.

So the battlefield geometry is the, again, the relationship between friend and foe and the ability to affect your foe with the weapons in your arsenal at a given distance, height, the three dimensions of warfare.

And that has fundamentally changed because of something like a drone.

So when I was an infantry platoon leader, I had weapon systems organic to my frontline element, an infantry platoon.
