Uh, we didn't get to see Anthony last year, saw very little of Trae, but what's it gonna look like, what has it looked like so far with, you know, a ten-time All-Star in Anthony Davis out there and a guy that, uh, in Trae Young that's, that's scored a lot of points here, uh, in his career?
22:39
Um, yeah.
22:39
I mean, we got a lot of...
22:41
We got, we got a good balance in the, in the group, I feel.
22:44
We got a lot of veteran guys who have been around, you know, this league for such a long time, and then we got a bunch of young talent that, you know, there's only, only room to grow.
22:53
So I feel like I'm super excited for that.
22:57
And, you know, just everyone's defining their role right now.
25:00
Uh, tell me about high school basketball in that area of Canada, uh, because it's really produced a ton of players in recent years.
114:15
But what's it gonna look like, what has it looked like so far with, you know, a 10-time all-star [laughs] in Anthony Davis out there, and a guy that, uh, in Trae Young that's, that's scored a lot of points here, uh, in his career?
114:28
Um, yeah.
114:28
I mean, we got a lot of...
114:31
We got, we got a good balance in the, in the group, I feel.
114:33
We got a lot of veteran guys who have been around, you know, the league for such a long time, and then we got a bunch of young talent that, you know, there's only, only room to grow.
114:42
So I feel like I'm super excited for that.
114:46
And, you know, just everyone's defining their role right now.
116:49
Uh, tell me about high school basketball in that area of Canada, uh, because it's really produced a ton of players in recent years.
21:15
But what's it gonna look like, what has it looked like so far with, you know, a 10-time All-Star in Anthony Davis out there and a guy that, uh, in Trae Young, that's, that scored a lot of points here, uh, in his career?
21:28
Um, yeah, I mean, we got a lot of...
21:31
We got, we got a good balance in the, in the group, I feel.
21:34
We got a lot of veteran guys who have been around, you know, this league for such a long time, and then we got a bunch of young talent that, you know, there's only, only room to grow.
21:43
So I feel like I'm super excited for that.
21:46
And, you know, just everyone's defining their role right now.
21:50
Nobody knows, like, what's happening.
23:50
Uh, tell me about high school basketball in that area of Canada, uh, because it's really produced a ton of players in recent years.
2:39
Uh, we didn't get to see Anthony last year, saw very little of Trae, but what's it gonna look like, what has it looked like so far with, you know, a 10-time All Star [laughs] in Anthony Davis out there and a guy that, uh, in Trae Young that's, that's scored a lot of points here, uh, in his career?
2:56
Um, yeah.
2:56
I mean, we got a lot of...
2:59
We got, we got a good balance in the, in the group, I feel.
3:01
We got a lot of veteran guys who have been around, you know, this league for such a long time, and then we got a bunch of young talent that, you know, there's only, only room to grow.
3:10
So I feel like I'm super excited for that.
3:14
And, you know, just everyone's defining their role right now.
5:17
Uh, tell me about high school basketball in that area of Canada, uh, because it's really produced a ton of players in recent years.
26:58
know, he's won.
27:01
So that's a huge impact in itself.
27:03
You could just talk to him about that.
27:05
High character guy, super humble.
27:09
And, you know, he's always pushing guys to be better.
27:11
And, you know, amazing player, obviously, as well.
27:14
Is there any teams that you're looking forward to play against this season? I wouldn't say there's any, like, specific teams, really.
29:04
So kind of what's it like to represent your country?
15:46
How would you describe the evolution of your game?
15:50
Yeah, I totally agree.
15:53
You know, putting pressure on the rim definitely helps the defense, keeps them on their toes and then helps on my jump shot.
16:00
I feel like that's been helping me, especially putting in work in the weight room and stuff.
16:05
That's helped me.
16:06
I've been able to get to the rim and stuff like that.
16:09
Have you added some weight? Yeah, I've added, I think since the season ended, I've added probably like 12 pounds or something like that.
20:45
So what you've shown now in summer league, how much do you feel like your game has grown and how much more can it grow?
22:58
Has anybody surprised you?
23:00
Um, no.
23:01
I mean, I've seen these guys play over the last week or two, um, uh, w- we knew what to expect with them.
23:07
They're, they're, they're very good players, um, and everyone just wants to win, so I feel like that's what's helped us.
23:14
Um, all these guys have, um, competed their butts off, honestly, every, um, every practice, every game.
23:20
So it's just super fun to see and put into fruition.
24:18
To what you've shown now in Summer League, h- how much do you feel like your game has grown and, and how much more can it grow?
24:23
grow?Um, yeah, I feel like, like I'm nowhere near to the player I wanna be yet, but I feel like it's grown a lot since last year.
18:55
How would you describe the evolution of your game?
18:59
Yeah, I totally agree.
19:01
You know, putting pressure on the rim definitely helps the defense, keeps them on their toes.
19:07
And then I hope it's on my jump shot.
19:08
I feel like that's been helping me, especially putting in work in the weight room and stuff.
19:14
That's helped me.
19:15
I've been able to get to the rim and stuff like that.
23:56
How much do you feel like your game has grown and how much more can it grow?
71:56
How would you describe the evolution of your game?
72:00
Yeah, I totally agree.
72:02
You know, putting pressure on the rim definitely helps the defense, keeps them on their toes.
72:08
And then I hope it's on my jump shot.
72:09
I feel like that's been helping me, especially putting in work in the weight room and stuff.
72:15
That's helped me.
72:16
I've been able to get to the rim and stuff like that.
76:55
To what you've shown now in Summer League, how much do you feel like your game has grown and how much more can it grow?
35:41
Has anybody surprised you?
35:44
Um, no.
35:45
I mean, I've seen these guys play over the last week or two, and, uh, w- we knew what to expect with them.
35:50
They're, they're, they're very good players.
35:52
Um, and everyone just wants to win, so I feel like that's what's helped us.
35:57
Um, all these guys have, um, competed their butts off, honestly, every, um, every practice, every game, so it's just super fun to see and put into fruition.
37:01
To what you've shown now in Summer League, h- how much do you feel like your game has grown and, and how much more can it grow?
37:08
Um, yeah, I feel like, like I'm nowhere near to the player I wanna be yet, but I feel like it's grown a lot since last year.
6:28
Has anybody surprised you?
6:30
Um, no.
6:31
I mean, I've seen these guys play over the last week or two, and, uh, w- we knew what to expect with them.
6:37
They're, they're, they're very good players, um, and everyone just wants to win, so I feel like that's what's helped us.
6:43
Um, all these guys have, um, competed their butts off, honestly, every, um, every practice, every game, so it's just super fun to see and put into fruition.
7:47
To what you've shown now in Summer League, h- how much do you feel like your game has grown, and, and how much more can it grow?
7:55
Um, yeah, I feel like, like I'm nowhere near to the player I wanna be yet.
8:00
But I feel like it's grown a lot since last year.
12:32
What are you working on this off-season? Like, what's been your focus so far that we might see in Vegas?
12:37
Uh, I mean, a lot of off-court stuff, like in the weight room, stuff like that.
12:43
Defense for sure, uh, my communication, ball handling.
12:47
So I've been working on a lot, honestly.
12:48
But I've had, uh, two, two and a half months to do so, so you know, it's, it's been working.
13:27
I- is, is that still the case? And how does one get to 7,000 calories a day?
13:31
Man, honestly, it's, it's hard.
13:34
But yeah, I d- that's what I do aim for every day.

61:30
So a- as much fun as you're having with the young guys, and understanding they're c- he's working his way back from injury, what's it like for you to play with Trae Young now? How, I mean, how crazy was it when you heard that news and, and now that he's a part of the squad?
61:44
Yeah, no, it, it was really crazy, uh, you know, seeing him, uh, uh, get traded to our team and stuff like that.
61:52
I feel like he opens a lot of, you know, opportunities for all of us.
61:57
Uh, he, he has...
61:58
He attracts so much attention on the floor.
62:00
Uh, so it just is very easy to play with him.
62:03
He's a very good playmaker.
speaker_3HOST
63:05
Um, ha- has something clicked for you, or is it just more opportunity? Um, w- what has gone well for you?
25:44
But coming up in Cambridge, in Kitchener, and obviously we have Jamal Murray now, but, um, what, what was that like? Like, for you to be coming up in a spot that hadn't really produced a ton of NBA players and, you know, maybe Jamal's influence but, uh, to be coming up in a place where, you know, you were one of the first ones?
26:03
Um, honestly, you know, a guy like Jamal coming out of the same city as me, obviously that's a huge inspiration, seeing a guy, like, from my exact hometown, uh, make it through the NBA.
26:14
Um, but paving my own way as well has been amazing to see.
26:19
And, uh, I couldn't do it without my family.
26:21
They, they, they helped me get through the way.
26:24
Uh, they put me in the right position to succeed.
26:26
So yeah, honestly, it's, it's a cool feeling.
31:05
Um, what was that like for you seeing that news come up a- and maybe getting to know those guys a little bit since the trades, even though they're not playing with you?
1:01
So, Riley, tell us how you ended up on Broadway.

So in Columbia, I'm part of a singing, acting theater group called The Young Columbians, and a couple years ago, we were selected out of seven other groups across the nation to travel to New York and perform in the Arts for Autism benefit concert.

We sang a medley from the musical Hair, and then performed with the other groups in an opening and closing number, and also did workshops around the city.

Riley

Riley

They were really fun.
Riley
RileyGUEST
24:26
I liked about the jelly beans one, I liked that how it talked about the creation of the jelly beans.
Riley
RileyGUEST
24:33
I thought that was really cool.
