Hi, I'm Michael Dougherty, and I'm Will Mobley, and we are the writers of Dogberry and Burgess Are Scared.
1:03
Dogberry and Virgins Are Scared is like Shakespearean dumb and dumber.
1:07
It is much ado about nothing from the clown's perspective.
1:10
It's really funny.
1:11
It's really tightly written.
1:13
And it has a lot of heart.
1:14
It examines some themes of friendship and forgiveness, as well as themes of dick jokes and fart jokes.
2:02
And I thank you
13:35
very clear motivation for Don John as to the
13:37
why.
13:38
Yeah, as I was going to say, Don John is also... a character that just sort of says, I am a villain because I like to be.
13:46
And we wanted to uncover more of that.
13:50
And I think You know, it's partially a tribute to the excellent actors that we have seen in our careers play those roles and bring that humanity to them.
14:01
And feeling like we kind of want to give these two characters a little bit more of a reason to do what they do and be who they are as a way to, you know, honor these great performances that we've seen and as a way to make our play feel like a play with a capital P.
14:21
Now, I will say we bury the lead and we don't reach those moments until about three quarters of the way through the script.
17:23
Will?
