Any wisdom you want to share with the people, Will?
0:21
Yes.
0:21
Yeah, I'd like to say that...
0:24
Our industry organizations such as the NRCA and Arizona Roofing Contractors and RCAT in Texas and Western States and MRCA do great jobs getting in front of state and federal legislatures to get the best tax policies for roofers.
0:42
And one of the things they try and do is get incentives for people to invest into their buildings.
0:48
Whether it's a big bill or a local ordinance or state law that can incentivize people to either add insulation, renew their roofs, or upgrade the weatherability of the roof.
1:03
Our organizations are doing a great job there for trying to get investment opportunities for the building owners and hence work for you as a roofer.
2:05
awesome yeah i think that's a wonderful point about you know make sure you're talking to experts and seeing what's available to you they're they're there to help you um there's organizations and folks working for you to make sure to make this a little easier
0:11
Will, it's great to see you.
0:13
Lauren, thank you again.
0:14
Always glad to be a part of the coffee shops and see how we can contribute and also learn lots of things.
0:32
So what are your thoughts on that and what advice do you have for people in the industry right now?
0:38
Well, I think, first of all, it's got to be the right decision for you with regard to how you're running your business.
0:48
And many roofers are family-run businesses, and they get to a point where their next generation or the professionals that they have or... partners that they have, you know, desire to cash out or to separate.
1:03
And so that puts the circumstances to what's the best path to exiting the business.
1:10
And there's a lot of good, attractive companies out there that have gotten into the private equity space in roofing.
0:33
So what do you have to share with people out there?
0:36
Well, I, I look at those two things as, as completely different.
0:40
Um, backlog is, is really about, you know, what direction you're, uh, are prepared to do in the next, uh, you know, several months.
0:49
So it's about your pipeline and end customers that you need, uh, to get, uh, oriented in jobs to, to do.
0:57
And so, you know, it's very important to keep that a- as, as long as you can out there a- and so that you can predict where you need to go.
1:06
The question, of course, with, you know, your financial resources really comes down to more of your day-to-day management and, uh, and cash is king here.
1:15
You know? So, you know, you don't wanna run things down where you can't pay your bills to your supplier or you can't pay your, uh, your cost to taxes and to your, your fine labor force that you have.
2:06
Yeah
0:33
So what are your insights on talking sustainability?
0:39
I think, first of all, it's a great topic because the expectation of a building owner or an architect is that the structure lasts for a long time.
0:49
And the expectation is that they get the performance out of that roof system and they'd like to do it in a way that they don't have to continually invest huge amounts of money to have to start over and redo things.
1:03
So they're looking for roof systems that can be cost-effective, renewable, sustainable.
1:09
They're looking for roof systems that, like I would say, that are based upon spray foam roofing is a great choice because you put that foam roof down with the coating originally and And then, you know, over the years, you just come back and recoat it and do some minor repairs.
1:24
And that's a very cost-effective solution.
1:26
And you keep the contents of the building dry, you know, tear it up.
2:44
So, yeah.
