What does and what does not, what is not allowed or what can be protected and what isn't protected by the National Historic Preservation Act in terms of native sacred sites and culturally important sites?

Yeah, so again, despite the name National Historic Preservation Act, the National Historic Preservation Act is not set up to protect historic places.

It's set up to describe a process by which the government has to review the historic places that they're going to destroy for this or that project.

So it's a procedural law.

That sets up things like consultation.

But nowhere in the National Historic Preservation Act does it say that because this place is sacred to a certain community or because this is a historically important property, that that means that they can't cite some corporate project on it.

So all it does is set up this process for reviewing the properties that are going to destroy.

Can you tell us about that visit and what takes place in a facility like that?

It's the, uh, it's the tiny poop pit.

And we, you know, we always say, um, what the government is showing us is that, you know, if your, if your poop has, you know, forever chemicals, arsenic, antimony, it's gonna leave the groundwater, um, poisoned for hundreds of years, you can get a permit for that.

Um, but like we found, if it's just regular old human poop that you're gonna, you're gonna do out there, um, they won't give you a permit for that.

Um, but yeah, there are some other aspects of this.

The, the actual Bureau of Land Management regulation that, um, they're using to fine us says that they can take from us, they can fine us three times the fair market value of the land that we occupied with our little composting toilets.

Um, and the government...

What are, what are the next steps that you guys are pursuing in this?

It's the, uh, it's the tiny poop pit.

Um, and the government, they can also get administrative costs for investigating, that kind of thing.

The government, um, found that, um, the fair market value of the land that we deprived them of their use for was $12.40 total, and the other 49,000 whatever, um, um, dollars is all the, the money, all the trips out to take photos of the site, to have meetings with the FBI about us.
