This has to be an informed decision.

And it's informed most likely, in my opinion, by conversations with Steve, with the man who will chart the path for the Red Wings over the next several seasons.

They simply can't.

That to me, and maybe even to Chris Illich, would be unacceptable, i.e. fireable.

This has to be a hockey trade where the Red Wings trade a roster player for a roster player or roster players of similar stature and impact.

There's just no world in which they can reboot the rebuild.
