But where do you think... a retail price on a grill fighter could be in order to really dominate this segment and have everybody move away from the thought of bristled grill brushes have to be a thing still
44:29
You know, I don't know if this answers your question, but I think it's less about what the price point is and that grill brushes have become such like a commoditized product and like the general public doesn't understand like, okay, it says it's better because it cleans better, but I could buy this one for 10 bucks and that cleans too.
44:46
So why do I want this one? There's no like...
44:49
you know brand equity i would say too much and like grill brushes are like a dominant you know brand like that and so i think you have to convince people on why they would want to pick your grill brush and it has to be compelling or at least have like amazing marketing like scrub daddy where they just want to buy it you know i think that's a bigger hurdle than the price itself

7 MINS LATER

52:24
What do we know about it?
52:27
Yeah, they came out with a vertical pellet smoker, which, you know, I applaud them for always doing everything with pellets.
52:34
You know, I think that's awesome.
52:36
But it's a vertical smoker.
46:33
But they've had some boardroom evolutions recently.
46:39
Yeah, they've been kind of maturing.
46:40
They were an upstart brand that rapidly grew like a lot of them through COVID.
46:47
And then they kind of stalled out.
46:48
They regressed a little, but they've been focusing a lot on expanding their business, one with new products and then also like adjacent categories.
46:57
They had that mixer.
46:58
They came out with another one that's smaller this year, which...
48:55
And I had heard that a company could go through and start the process of getting... tariff relief or tariff refunds and i've had some customers in the last couple weeks go oh is peterbilt going to get the tariff refunds so then we in turn like how do we get they just want some money back too on a truck they bought last year or whatever um that's not going to happen i can tell you that but how was academy able to work some tariff refundage
42:17
These are cornerstone items to build your event and to... give it any more to give it more legitimacy and believability for the folks that might be naysayers so i continue to find it odd that they want to sit on that stuff
42:35
Yeah.
42:36
I mean, when I've looked at it too, it seems like it's almost like a Memphis in May, but they're advertising a whole expo side of it where they're saying you can launch products, stuff like that.
42:49
I mean, from work I've done in the expo space, usually you pre-sell your next year's event at the current event.
42:56
So the clock's running on that.
42:58
You get a good 60% pre-sold for next year.
43:01
And if it's in April, is that right? I
43:28
years in a row there's been losses.
39:27
Yeah.
39:28
But, uh, the, he, he mentioned that they have a, a factory in Poland, um, which they were completing, like, right into all the COVID, like, where it all started to turn and turn bad.
39:41
And they, they were s- you know, really proud of that factory and talked about a lot of, um, investor calls.
39:46
Uh, and I, that was just interesting for me 'cause I was curious, like, did it get finished? Did it get sold? So, you know, hearing that they still build out of it, I don't know, that was just interesting, interesting to me 'cause they had, like, a buy where you build initiative there for a little while, and that was part of, uh, supplying Europe.
40:03
So that was interesting [laughs] to me.

13 MINS LATER

53:19
Do you think we get to a point in this country where we finally decide to ban bristled grill brushes?
53:30
E- either an outright ban 'cause they're afraid or, um, I forget the guy's name, but I've had a couple people email me and say, "Oh, the reason these grill brushes are recalled is 'cause they don't follow, there's a certain standard that you can follow that four wire grill brushes where they don't fall out like that." Um, and they, I guess they do it in Canada, I wanna say, but they don't do it in, in the US most of the time.
53:55
Um, so e- but even that feels like risky once you...
40:05
And what do you know about it? And do you have any idea when in 2027 we might actually be able to purchase it?
40:14
Yeah, I don't know when they'll release it, but Weber seems to do it really early spring, like winter, like February-ish is usually when they seem to release their grills.
40:24
They're going to have two of them, one for $899, which looks about the size as the Blackstone model, and then a larger one for $1299.
40:33
They introduced it at Memphis in May and they were cooking and competing there, I believe.
40:37
And the Weber version looks a little more upscale, nice, refined, has a couple of cool little features on it.
40:47
So yeah, it's interesting because you talked about them just merging recently.
40:52
And to me, this seems like the first product where they're sharing platforms across the different companies.

5 MINS LATER

46:17
Or do you just see this as, I want to say a fad, but there is a smaller percentage of us that would consider buying this where the majority of people go, hey, it looks fun to cook on, never actually going to do that.
