For nonprofits looking to bridge that giving gap and appeal to younger donors, Wen-Chih O'Connell names some of the most important shifts organizations should be making now.
13:04
They want transparency, proof of impact, mobile-first tools, and meaningful ways to engage beyond giving money.
13:11
And these younger generations will be the main donors going into the not-so-distant future as that transfer of wealth continues and these younger generations come into their prime earning years.
13:22
So there are a few shifts charities really need to make if they haven't already.
13:26
First, design everything for mobile.
13:29
Gen Z overwhelmingly donates on their phone.
13:33
Our data showed that they prefer to give on platforms like Instagram and GoFundMe, and millennials are primarily using Facebook when they are giving, all of which are already mobile optimized.
18:13
Wen-Chih O'Connell says in this era of the digital fire hose of data and endless scroll feeds, it's critical for charities to engage donors at the very moment they see a cause they care about, especially the younger ones.
4:46
But how did you connect with us and what's the synergy there? I mean, I know what it is, but I feel like people listening would be interested to hear that story a bit, too.
4:57
Yeah.
4:58
So Vantage Point, you know, your mission is around, well, part of your mission, I'm sure, is around supporting charities and nonprofits by offering, you know, practical educational value add information.
5:10
So it made a whole lot of sense for us as we were trying to get the word out about this new guide and just really try to educate charities about the tools that are available to them and about how PayPal Giving Fund works and how to just, you know, get more value out of what we're offering for their operations and for what they're trying to do.
5:34
And so it made a whole lot of sense for us to reach out and partner with Vantage Point on sharing this information because it is really valuable, I think, for charities to have the knowledge around what's available to them so that they can decide what works best for them and what they can use, you know, given kind of the situation that they're in now.
5:57
So just having that knowledge is really important.
6:01
And so for us, we really are trying to reach as many charities across Canada as we possibly can.
6:26
And will people be able to connect with you at the BC Nonprofit Leadership Conference?
