Why did the government, why did the Carney government decide to do this? And why does it only go to 12 million Canadians, not to everybody?

Well, we decided, um, obviously that, uh, people are struggling with affordability.

And I think, um, you know, as a constituent MP, I think MPs have seen it right across the country with people certainly struggling, uh, with groceries or gas or what have you.

And I would say this.

I would say that really post-COVID, things really haven't normalized with respect to pricing and, and, you know, our economy and affordability.

And, you know, obviously inflation rose through the roof post-COVID.

I would say inflation's coming back down.

Why not everybody? Why just 12 million people?

The statistics I st- I, I cited at the start of this question have.

Well, Vassy, I mean, look, I take the points.

I think, again, I think Canadians know, certainly as a government and leaders in the government, we know that we face headwinds.

We know we're in a trade war, and what can we do about that? We can diversify our economy.

We can build our economy.

I would argue some of the indicators are very strong.IMF projects our economy the second fastest-growing economy in the G7.

Wages are outpacing inflation.

But we've got this," doesn't that fall on deaf ears to those people who are suffering right now, and neglect to address the significance of what they are experiencing?
