The one that reflects

this project.
10:47
Yes, so a dear friend, Ken Kenneth, who was introduced to a dear friend, Tina Heine, who... supported me in my work for many many years during the festival in Salzburg, introduced me to Ken and we just connected and since then Ken has been coming along documenting my projects and I invited him to come to Senegal and do the music video with Ali Boulus and Sisiko and then also then I thought like well when you're already in Africa we have to also bring Roberto and we did a music video in Dakar and he came to our concerts in Budapest and filmed that concert and he always comes along and does all the music videos which is for me very very helpful of course because before I had to hire a filmmaker someone and I had to cut it myself and it was so much work so I really have to thank Ken for all his support coming along and doing all this work and supporting my work and he came to Madrid to our residency where we recorded new music for the new album with Roberto and he documented also the process and tried to make people understand what we're doing and let Roberto explain what flamenco is and Ali, where he comes from.
12:09
He does really wonderful, amazing work.
12:10
And he also connected us to The Cut, also to Paul Manship Residency, which we did a year ago.
12:17
And right now, currently, we're actually staying at the residency for a couple of days, which is also really, really helpful.
12:24
And I have to thank them, Rebecca and the residency, to host us all the time and to give us the opportunity to come together and talk.
13:35
Tell us what those roots are.
2:21
It's really astounding.
2:24
Well, uh, uh, I worked with Alibou Lo Santo doing a concert, um, with my jazz quintet featuring him because, uh, my f- my duo partner, Abay Sissoko, wasn't able to come, so we played him with my jazz quintet, and I met, uh, Abay's brother, Alibou Lo Santo.
2:38
And, uh, so I asked him if, if he could continue our duo project, and we were invited to perform for the German president, but it was canceled concert because of COVID.
2:46
But we were in Paris recording music, and at the same time, I was studying flamenco music because I was at the residence in Salzburg learning, uh, flamenco and understanding that I need much more understanding of, of flamenco.
3:01
So during COVID, I spent a lot of time taking lessons from Alejandro, who's on the records, master and teacher, uh, during COVID.
3:09
And then the idea came together, why don't we just play together? You know, it gives me more time to study more flamenco music, prepare myself for, for a future potential duo with flamenco, just flamenco and trumpet.
3:21
But at the same time, I know the kora for, for 14, 20 years, so, so this is a way of, of just creating a project which includes flamenco and, and my lo- where I can apply my learning of flamenco music into-
3:53
[laughs] I just don't think it gets more beautiful than that.
