How do you think about plasticity and what are the major phenotypes you're observing here in this data set?
2:37
I think of plasticity as the ability of a T cell to just adjust its identity and function in response to its environment.
2:50
To our students, we often teach T cell types as like fixed job descriptions, if you will, where there's a one type that promotes inflammation and another that suppresses it.
3:02
But actually, like in real tissue, particularly during chronic inflammation, the boundaries are much less rigid, like cells can share features of several programs or move into related states.
3:19
So in our study in inflamed IBD tissue, we saw a strong expansion of activated memory CD4 T cells.
3:27
And one subset had TH1, TH17-like inflammatory program.
3:33
And these also included cells with tissue resident features.

And so what do you think this means for potential self-regulation of the cell subsets?
