So we've got, considering Ozempic started as a very important medication, to address diabetes and then it's become a weight loss drug which is a very very different thing we're talking about and how do we parent within the marketing that's coming at us and there's a very different conversation about teenagers just accessing these without us even knowing versus how do we get informed really good informed consent about a younger child who it is i'm assuming not going on the internet and purchasing these themselves the other thing i've heard just i don't know about where you are una but add to that mix there is a big black market um you know my market for these drugs that kids teenagers tend to be able to get involved in these kind of markets so there's that to consider as well

Una HansenGUEST
absolutely um and i realized i didn't even get around to answering your main question which is sort of what you know what are the things we should consider about just sort of the impact even if your child is not taking these drugs even if no one in your home is taking these drugs the impact it's having on the culture and how kids are learning to understand things about bodies and body image and i think one of the biggest things that's coming up a lot in conversation is the representation there's just less representation of people in larger bodies in the media so already i mean it wasn't great before right the people we see on television represent a very tiny percentage of body sizes across the range of human body diversity But the very few people in larger bodies who were successful performers, musicians, actors, actresses, so many of them have shrunk before our eyes.

Una HansenGUEST
But it seems pretty clear that a dramatic change has happened for a lot of people.

Una HansenGUEST
So kids in larger bodies who used to, say, have a role model in a particular pop star or an actor, actress, that person may not look like them anymore.

Una HansenGUEST
And then not unrelated, we have so many public figures who were already very thin who are now even thinner.
