sometimes as South Africans, we overlook certain experiences and because we will dream of that long haul abroad flight,

stamps in the passport.

Social media can be really, really enticing with those types of holidays when people clip all the videos together.

And the best thing, the thing that I love most is watching the South African tags.

Because those videos are phenomenal.

And when you start watching those videos over and over, the bucket list items for overseas start slowly falling away.

And you start going, well, my currency here is one for one, so I'm going to go out and travel local.

What other tips can you share with us?

... what are the ones that, uh, w- uh, made it to the list that surprised you the most?

So I would have to say where it came to, like, the historical stuff.

So we're celebrating tourism month the same time that we're celebrating heritage month, and those specific venues, people overlook them because we used to go there for school outings to go and learn about South Africa's history.

You don't go back as an adult and look at these venues and think, "Wow, I actually could learn more now as an adult." And so that's sort of what surprised me the most, is a lot of those crept in when you don't think that they, that they would, and then they do.

And they become so special because you learn as an adult, and that's my favorite thing about having grown up, is that I have a chance to re-educate myself.
