Can you talk about that?
T
3:35Ty GundleGUEST
Yeah, so our mission at Olimap is to support equitable access to safe, just, and warm places to call home for people who are experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Thurston County.
T

And an important part of that mission is to support people in finding that home wherever it is that they want to call home, whether that means that they are outdoors at a camp or wanting to get indoors to a shelter or place like an apartment.
T

And yeah, harm reduction, housing first, trauma-informed care have all been really important parts of our work since the beginning.
T
4:09Ty GundleGUEST
And really all of that comes from a belief that people are better able to meet their needs, exit homelessness, or just improve their own quality of life and health and safety if we're supporting stability where they are.
T

So we see that if people are supported in being more safe and stable, for example, when they're outdoors living at a camp, that those folks are then better able to work on those long-term goals and get connected to the services that are actually going to help them leave that situation.

So harm reduction for us is really about reducing the harm that people experience when they're living unsheltered in whatever ways that we can.
