123:39
But very exciting for Western Sydney because this one, unlike Kingsford Smith, which has got the curfew, doesn't have one.
123:47
No, that's correct.
123:48
In fact, a lot of the airlines that have locked in have taken advantage of that with flights that take off at midnight and whatnot that probably suit the destinations obviously more.
123:57
But yeah, very exciting weekend for Western Sydney.
124:00
Sunday, 11 o'clock, the First domestic flight takes off.
124:04
It's for the Gold Coast.
124:05
It is a Jetstar flight.
124:40
But if you can, go.
140:39
47 storeys, Troy? No wonder people are against it.
140:42
Yeah, this is in High Street, at the bottom end of High Street there, 47 storeys residential tower.
140:48
Now, this actually got rejected about five years ago, but the developer's been pretty persistent.
140:53
It is now with the state government to make a decision beyond council.
140:57
Now, yes, there's been 26 different... public submissions 24 of them against so obviously a lot of community members saying apart from the general traffic and noise and whatnot it just does not suit that area it would be the highest tower in Penrith highest building in Penrith certainly residential towers of that size not previously permitted but that one's going through the process now developer having to respond to those community concerns
141:20
I can understand it 47 stories goodness me now we've got Nathan Cleary recovering with Mary's beautiful help we've got of course the World Cup test on tonight and I'm worried about Australia with that Kiwi side my god it's a hell of a side but I'm not going to say that other word I'm going to say football's back Sydney FC and the Wanderers mate
141:43
It is indeed, yeah.
141:43
The Wanderers, of course, finished last year, so we're hoping for a big return to form this year.
102:36
Big plans for Cranebrook near Penrith, please tell me.
102:40
Yeah, that's right.
102:41
Of course, Cranbrook, one of Penrith's older suburbs, and Penrith Council is sort of going through a lot of their older suburbs, like they've done with Kingswood and Warrington and whatnot, and just coming up with basically a long laundry list of action plans, and Cranbrook is...
102:55
OK, yeah.
102:57
on Monday night council endorsed plans to basically you'd almost say clean up the suburb it's become obviously a little bit tired after all these years and there's some issues there so council getting on top of that and that's important I guess for a lot of Western Sydney councils a lot of these suburbs that sort of you know sprouted up in the 60s and 70s start to really age
104:13
Now the Penrith Emus have won their first grand final in what, more than 30 years?
104:19
Yeah, 1994 was the last time they held a trophy aloft.
104:22
And last Saturday, they did it in the subbies competition.
134:09
Penrith and St Marys Local Business Awards were both held, yeah?
134:12
Yeah, that's right.
134:13
Uh, both, uh, both held over the last, uh, week or so.
134:16
So a couple of dozen businesses honored there.
134:18
And I think what's great about, uh, things like this is that we get to see and hear stories of, of businesses that are doing well because we obviously hear sometimes, uh, of, of the negative stories around business.
135:15
Mm-hmm.
135:15
But we're hearing that it'll actually be youngster Jackson Edgar, who's only played one first grade game, that was last year, who's actually gonna end up in the fullback spot.
135:24
He's sitting there in jersey number 20 at the moment on that extended bench, so I think you'll find a, a late change.
125:02
A battery storage facility creating a bit of a controversy in Penrith, yeah?
125:07
Yeah, it sure is.
125:08
This is going to be out at Mulgoa.
125:10
Now, of course, we know that as pressure on the power network continues, that these battery storage facilities are obviously going to be... a really important resource but um yeah there are some concerns about this one in mulgoa it sits um near some some pretty important environmental aspects including some uh some uh some platypus um habitats and things like that and then you've got other residents who are concerned that this currently vacant land with all this on it is going to create some flooding issues so look as you can imagine if there is a little bit of not in my backyard about it but of
126:02
yeah interesting too good old dry july's coming up in a couple of weeks in the nepean cancer care center uh they do that every year yeah
126:11
yeah we profile these guys um every single year they uh they always get behind dry july the car the staff there uh get involved and basically uh they're always raising money for something within the center sometimes it's been new furniture or other sorts of resources so uh they're definitely doing that again this year getting involved in it and uh Yeah, it is always a great initiative, but great to see that these guys get involved.
126:33
Obviously, funding limitations, as we know, across the health system, and sometimes people need to dig into their pockets to help out.
126:40
This is a great way to do it.
138:58
And we finally got one in the first flight, October 25.
139:03
Yeah, in fact, as we go back through the archives of the Western weekend, there's plenty of front pages that say, you know, it's all dead and buried, never happened, but times change.
139:13
And, of course, yeah, now confirmation that Jetstar will actually be the first airline to fly out, a Gold Coast flight at 11am on the 25th of October.
139:22
Now, there'll be freight flights before then, but that's definitely the first passenger flight.
139:26
And then, of course...
139:27
Qantas will follow early next year.
139:30
Singapore Airlines is also going to fly out of Western Sydney International, as is Air New Zealand as well.
140:39
That's right, yeah.
214:48
Okay, so what are we talking about today? There's plenty to read in the Western Weekender.
214:56
Yeah, always plenty happening in the Western Weekend.
214:58
Fresh edition out today.
215:00
We kick off with Western Sydney trains.
215:03
Now, they have not met on-time running targets in the western part of Sydney, on the western line, for, well, let's just say at least four or five years.
215:13
In fact, since the COVID times, when obviously less people were on the network, it just seems to now just be the accepted norm that the trains are going to run late on the western line.
215:23
They've actually had a horrible... couple of weeks.
215:53
Tell me about this story, the Palliative Care Volunteers Preserving People's Legacies.
