What I wanted us to look at today is a name of God that is actually used all throughout Scripture, and it's one that is really, really familiar for us, but I think it's actually so familiar that sometimes we actually miss what this name is actually saying.

And that name is Adonai.

Now, most of the time in our Bible, that name will actually be translated with a very simple word of Lord, right? Like it's quite simple.

And we actually say that word a lot.

We sing you are Lord.

We say and pray, Lord, help me.

So, we're talking about being under one roof, right? And in this series, what we're asking is, what does it really mean to be the church? And that's what we talk about when we're saying under one roof.

What does it mean for us to be the church? And it's not just about being in any community, it's about being the family that Jesus is building at the foot of the cross.

And in week one, we saw that we were actually a community.

We're a people of community who are radically committed to one another, not just gathering merely on a Sunday or midweek just, just for the sake of it, but we are committed to each other.

And in week two, we, last week, we learned that we are actually a people of confession, right? We're honest about our sin, but we are honest about our sin so that the cross stays central and we can carry one another's burdens.

And today, we are called to be a community of contemplation, a people who are actually deeply connected and deeply committed to silence, solitude, and prayer.
