It's gonna be a little longer of an episode, but it's a good one, so grab your man and get excited because here we go.
1:05
Yeah, I think, I think for guys especially, when they find out that their partner's pregnant, it's like you only have nine months to, like catch up and find out what is even going on.
1:18
Well, before my wife and I even got pregnant, she was at her niece's birth effectively like a doula, but she didn't even know what a doula was.
1:29
And her sister-in-law told her, like, "You should take a doula training." And, you know, she put it to the, to the side for like seven, eight years.
1:37
And then we heard Ayla Cuenca talking about her doula training program on a podcast, and my wife was like, "I really wanna do that." So we had gotten married.
1:48
Two years later, she wants to make this, you know, investment in a doula training program, and I was just being supportive.
1:55
You know, and I was like, I re- I recognize that the investment in that would also be helpful when we choose to get pregnant and have our own family.
4:22
Wow
5:31
don't know if I've
5:32
seen that one.
5:33
I think it's 2018.
5:35
This lady found these old files in this old sugar factory that was back when you had letters to and from government officials from top scientists hired by the sugar industry.
5:51
It was email communications, well, I guess like letter communications written with typewriters in these old files that she had found.
6:00
And it was showing that it was with the push of sugar back when they were advertising sugar as a healthy calorie and sugar, this and everything is, you know, sugar is fine.
6:12
And she was saying like, it was showing that there was communication taking place from the scientists that were bought and paid for by the sugar industry, lobbying and sending letters to the government, essentially creating the sugar campaign that was back in the day.

you spell her name?
40:25
... your opinions about prior and what happened with Rockefeller and the Flexner Report and all that?
40:32
Yeah.
40:32
The Flexner Report, that's an interesting one.
40:34
When they came in and propagandized all the alternative medicine and all the different ways of, you know, healing and midwifery and herbalism, and all these different things that used to be the norm, were then seen as unscientific or woo woo or...
40:56
You know, so then they came in, I think it was in 1912 or something like that, early 1900s, with the academic standard.
41:05
So then they started funding their own schools and writing their own curriculums for what they wanted people to know, and they started defunding all the alternative fields of medicine, and midwifery was one of those things that took a hit.
41:21
So I knew about the Flexner Report and stuff just from being conspiratorial-minded, but then when I started getting into the birth space and realized the midwives were one of the groups or conglomerates that took a hit from the Flexner Report, and I'm like looking at the old world pictures back before modern medicine, and you see these families were so big.

I, I've listened to you talk about this, and maybe for our listeners who haven't heard you, you could talk a little bit about the perception of theoretical benefit versus what's really happening and what's actual risks are.
11:47
Thanks again for tuning in.
11:52
Yes, yes, absolutely.
11:55
And I mean, if you as a man feel like, you know, it's a little bit, you know, nerve wracking or scary or, you know, cause there's because of the unknown, but the only thing that really takes that like fear, nervousness or anxiety away is educating yourself about what natural physiological birth is.
12:14
And then you can actually rest in knowing that the, actually the way to increase your chances of positive outcomes is to not disturb the process.
12:23
So then you can actually rest and be more of a space holder and a calm person So that your wife can feel more comfortable to surrender because she picks up on that.
12:32
If you're like nervous, imagine how she feels.
12:34
She's going through labor and she's about to deliver a baby.
