He is also a member of the North Dakota Beef Commission, and he describes what's unique about Japan's process.

So once these carcasses are harvested and chilled, uh, buyers get to sit in, uh, in what, uh, we would call the show cooler back in the US.
15:54
They sit in there, and as those carcasses run in front of them, they get to bid on them in real time, and, uh, then they go into the processing system.
1:13
Maybe you can just introduce yourself to the listeners in terms of kind of where you sit in agriculture, you wear a lot of hats.
1:22
You know, I do.
1:24
It's something that my dad taught me about service and being involved and kind of taught us young that the world is run by those that show up, so show up, right? And so we try to show up, but it's not just me.
1:35
If you look, all my brothers and sisters have been on their church boards and school boards have served at various levels and in volunteerism across the state.

How does that look to you? And then what correlation do you see on the ranch?

4:07
In 1996, the National Cattlemen's Association and the Livestock and Meat Board merged, um, operations and, and I, I should back up just...
4:20
The beef cattle portion of the Livestock and Meat Board merged with the National Cattlemen's Association and formed the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, with the intent of bringing, uh, a lot of the stuff under one roof to have an organization that represents from the consumer all the way back to the, the, uh, producer and, uh, that can, you know, create demand, create a better working environment for all beef cattle producers in the US.
4:47
The Federation itself, um, functions as, as a governance arm of the Checkoff.
