S5 EP3 From Estimates to Advance Claims Rethinking Price Transparency

Evan MartinHOST
And I think we've siloed so much of revenue cycle over the years that we've allowed for that siloing to occur when it comes to estimates and how we interact with each other.

One, let's talk about co-providers working with convening facilities is one element of it.

And then the other part that I'll address first is the expectation of the output of pricing transparency i think that as as all this was coming together i it seems to me that there was a thesis that oh this pricing transparency initiative would help uh uncover or harvest all this data that ultimately could be used in good faith testament and at least from the provider side right because providers and payers both have their own requirements for price transparency, but they're very different, right? And so to the point of hospitals are required to publish all this, now payers, and the payers in these TIC files, right, they're supposed to publish all provider types.

So the thought was is that, well, then maybe we could go harvest data out of the payer transparency files to extrapolate this and be able to use that for Good Faith Estimate.

And I don't think that that data is even close to being ready to be used in that context.

where we're both saying the same thing, we're both agreeing to this is what it's going to cost the member and or what's going to get paid for this service.
