wasn't, you know,

um, probably, um, 90 early 90s you know so um early 90s and so um he we entered in this tournament it's a funny story because um even though we didn't live that far from Mille Lacs my dad was like well let's camp out you know we'll camp out we'll make a week of it we're gonna pre-fish every day and stay at home but the night of the tournament we're gonna camp out well back then we had a like a truck camper You know what I'm talking about? It goes on the back of the truck and then you can still pull your boat.

Well, my dad didn't want to put that on because it was kind of a pain to put that on.

So he's like, we had a topper at the time.

And he's like, let's just throw an air mattress in the topper.

We'll just crash in there.

Well, he didn't take into account that the mosquitoes somehow could get in there.

I would say,

But do you think all commercial fishermen out there are as responsible as you sound, particularly when it comes to trawling, something the public are genuinely concerned about?

Yeah, I think that's concern because the beat up in social media is a misconception, you know.

Like any industry, there's going to be the odd mistake and there's going to be the odd person that doesn't quite toe the line.

But I think that guys that are left now, I mean, it's an ever shrinking industry.

There's very few of us left anyway.

And the ones that are left are passionate about it.

And we've been here where life is, you know.

For people who still aren't convinced, and I can tell there'll be plenty of them, Tony, what sort of questions do you want journalists to be asking? And how do you want the general public to think about these issues in a constructive way?
