Maybe if you could just talk about the book a little bit, just to kind of give a bit of context to that.
4:01
Yeah, so where the book came out of was that when I was 23, I left a job that I, you know, all my friends were jealous because I had this job as like a pharmaceutical rep going around to doctors.
4:14
I had a car, I had a Nokia, you know, I was really cool.
4:17
I even had a daily food allowance and my friends were working in like You know, McDonald's or whatever.
4:22
And they were so jealous.
4:24
But I used to cry myself to work because I just hated it so much.
4:27
I just didn't enjoy it.

And I think that's very hard for some parents.
3:14
But Tony, what was, um, what were the main topics for you?
3:17
So yeah, I, I've had about, uh, meetings with about 20 airlines of all, uh, different operating models and things.
3:25
Things I, I picked up is, uh, they were surprisingly calm, surprisingly positive given the situation we're in, and maybe that's the lesson-- not the lessons, but the experience of COVID was so profound that airlines have, have learnt that, you know, stay calm and, and see how things evolve.
3:46
Um, I caveat that with a couple of things.
3:48
That it depends very much on how long this situation prevails for.
3:55
I got a sense that it's okay now, but if this carries on for much longer, as in carries on the fuel, fuel price, um, then they're gonna have to do more radical things than they're doing now.
4:09
The other sense I got was that 2027 planning is, is on hold, and they're dealing with the here and now.

Are we likely to see a lot of those thinner routes being cut then this winter?

It was aimed at assisting clubs, parents, and teenagers in dealing with issues including the consumption of drugs and how to build resilience.
0:46
There's about 55 clubs in Clare.
0:47
We've probably got to tw- between 22, 23 clubs overall.
0:50
So the main areas that we're working on is we bring the Bushy Park Treatment Center in to speak about the facilities they provide and the s- service they provide.
0:58
And then we have the Gardaí.
0:59
They're really providing services as regards to the drug intimidation program, which is getting really common.
1:04
Families get into debt.
Peter O'ConnellCORRESPONDENT
4:23
He says that the perception that young people are not as resilient as previous generations is an age-old cliché.
6:11
Tony, are airlines becoming more cautious about committing to new routes?
6:17
There's, um, there's no evidence of that just as yet.
6:20
I th- I think to put this into context, that airlines were experiencing probably the, the most rapid and unprecedented growth in recent years in the six months leading up to the current crisis.
6:34
You know, places like Vietnam, um, Thailand, they, they were in aviation terms overheating in terms of the, the growth that was being put into those markets.
6:45
And, and as yet that ...
6:47
A lot of airports are reporting that they expect traffic to be down, but actually at the moment it's not down.
6:52
We are seeing some tactical reductions in capacity from airlines.
11:50
So are you already starting to see airlines asking more support from airports, and how is that gonna mani- manifest? Do you think it's gonna be the, the demanding greater incentives to launch new routes or maintain capacity?
