All that to be said, what would you say are some of the misconceptions that families may have about the value that State College of Florida brings, both from an academic, financial, or even career value standpoint? I think that some of those things, I'd love for you to respond to that.
10:55
That's an excellent question.
10:56
You know, I think especially my generation and older believe that your local state college, your local community college, that's the place you go if you want to get your AA.
11:09
They think of it as...
11:10
You go get your AA there, you're not sure you're ready to go away to college or a university, and that's really all they offer.
11:19
That might have been true about 70 years ago, but fast forward to present day, and I say 70 because the college was founded in 1957.
11:30
We now have more than 65,000 alumni.

9 MINS LATER

20:56
What would be there as you would define success?
4:48
How do you approach people in that circumstance?
4:50
I mean, the- the...
4:52
One thing I, I, I think anybody listening could know is that the- there's not a more open community to me than the art world, the art community.
5:01
From artists to dealers to, to curators, it doesn't matter what your cultural background is.
5:08
I feel like you're just accepted because we, we understand the complexities and the difficult nature of trying to be somebody who, who makes something that didn't exist before and then show it.
5:17
There's just a lot of risk, or if not risk, uh, vulnerability.
5:23
So I do feel like if you're somebody who is... who loves to talk, the art world will listen.
8:49
So, I'm asking you, how do I engage in conversation without sounding like a total goofball?
