I have, and we're both longtime instructor pilots.

One of the things that I commonly say is there is almost never one sole correct way to fly an airplane.

There's a lot of individual technique possible.

And some pilots like, in the event of a go-around, to keep, to leave the landing gear down so that when they come around the next time, the gear's already down.

Personally, I'm an advocate of making things as normal as possible, so a go-around becomes a takeoff, and the gear comes up, and then that gives you the trigger that you should be trained for to extend the landing gear later on at the appropriate point, so when the gear goes back down.

But there is a strong correlation between go-arounds and gear mishaps.

I started out in an estate agency probably around the age of 13.

So a family business, mine and my dad's.

My dad always encouraged me on a Saturday to come into the company and sort of learned the way.

So I would just be answering calls at 13 and bugging people for him and handling things whilst he was out and about.
