What was the brainchild behind it?

So we started in 2009, and it started with a conversation with one homeless veteran who was on the side of the road, and I had asked him what he needed, and I assumed it, the ask would be for money.
3:58
And he didn't ask for money.
3:59
He asked for underwear and socks.

And, uh, we went to the local Walmart and got him what he needed and, um, but it just sparked something to say, "Wow, if there's one veteran that's in need of something so simple, um, there must be others." And, uh, as we found out, at that time, back in 2009, uh, there was probably 2,000 homeless veterans in the Twin Cities.
4:19
And, uh, luckily, that number's come down quite a bit, but, um, there was a lot of, lots of work to do.

And it started, uh, an effort to, uh, distribute those items to, to veterans as efficiently as we could, and we, we did that on the third Saturday of every month at the VA Medical Center parking lot.
