So you got the differences between Stephen and I.

So a residential proxy is a means by which IP connections can be masked and used initially roughly 10 years ago so that companies, if a company was a national company and want to see how their advertising was doing in Iowa, they could localize advertising.

So they'd use residential IP connections because that would replicate it and they could see things.

Over time, that service got warped by criminals who now use IP connections, including potentially yours, mine, or someone who's listening to this, to be able to take over devices in the home and use them for bots.

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
