Absolutely.

I, I, I'd like the listeners to envision themselves just standing in an open field.

And, uh, about thirty feet away from them is a thirty-foot wall, and that wall represents their vision, their vision of their business or, and/or their life, if you will.

And about twenty feet out, ten feet short of your vision, is a wall of obstacles, perceived obstacles, if you will.

And for some of us, sometimes that, those perceived obstacles are higher in effect, therefore, we can't even see the accomplishment of our vision.

And, and that obviously makes us feel overwhelmed and maybe even depressed and, and, and hopeless.

Yeah.

we love the concept of like blurring the lines between us and our partners it's like you know where people are working across teams you know across companies with different teams and you can really like work as one team but i think the challenge to that is finding companies that you want to blur lines with right um there's got to be that like culture match

Exactly.

And, you know, obviously I work for AltaVita.

I'd love to say AltaVita would fit in with every company, but that is also just not the way of the world either.

So yeah, you're exactly right.

You do need a mindset shift.

And I think that's where mobility teams, travel teams, you know, hopefully when they're looking, you they want to work with.

What have they started?

Well, indeed.

Uh, this, these really hadn't been used for this purpose for a very long time, and they came back into prominence due to the quite specific circumstances of the hung Parliament that came about after Theresa May lost her majority in 2017.

At that point, the Conservative government started whipping their MPs to abstain on opposition day motions as a way of them claiming that because they'd not, uh, actually taken part in the vote, that they hadn't really been defeated.

And so the Labour opposition, and particularly Keir Starmer, as Shadow Brexit Secretary, started using these motions as a way to, to give actual bite to what they were putting forward on opposition days so that there'd be real consequences for ministers if they were passed.

But their use has then carried on.

There's been about 20 of them now overall, including since the return of majority government in 2019.

Would you say it is a useful tool for greater transparency, or is it at risk of becoming a rather expansive way of scoring political points?
