Is it hard to move around in that?

You had to look everything you have to learn to you've got to find the rhythm.

You've got to find the motion within a character.

So there's movement and there's that kind of rhythm and stuff that we're finding.

And that's why I'm constantly studying dance, martial arts, singing music to be able to.

Bring that into a character like this.

Do you ever miss the anonymity, or do you enjoy seeing your fans?

Digger is the guy who, he says things that people might think, you know, says things that people think, I never thought of that, you know, that is outrageous, I can't believe he said it.

And when you're looking at this story, I mean, it's timeless and it's timely.

It was a real gift, and I dreamed of a life to be able to do this for the rest of my life as a kid.

And every day, I'm thinking, you know what? I can't control what's going to happen, but what I can control is I can just do the best I can.

Cruise first heard about Digger in depth eight years ago, meeting with Iñárritu in May of 2018 on the first day of shooting for Top Gun Maverick, the movie that saved the summer of 2022.

So I shot all day.

I had to fly back to LA, got on a motorcycle, went to his office, and we just spent many, many hours till early in the morning.

And then I got up and went to work.

Mm-hmm.

So when you look at VistaVision, first of all, VistaVision was developed in the '50s, 1950s, because television came on, and television and people were watching small screens in their homes, so they needed something to promote.

It was actually Paramount Pictures that did it.

And then in the '80s, they started cutting up theaters, and I was like, "I don't want..." You know, when I was a kid, I studied every part of the movies, the studios and distribution.

I was meeting with all those guys.

I was like, "Stop cutting up th- the theaters." Let's, let's...

And so I pushed the format of 65 millimeter, these cameras.

Have you ever thought about directing? Will you direct?

You know, English is his second language, and you, you see the language in the film is so amazing.

So before getting to the committee and service work, can you do like a brief mini, mini first step, how you found your way to SAA and then how you found your way into service?

Yeah, I had moved out to Scottsdale full time.

I had been working in New York City at the time.

I had gone back and taken a job back there in Then I came here, and I came alone.

My partner stayed back east.

We had a home in Connecticut.

And that's when my addiction really took off.

You know, sometimes I'm so close to the franchise.

For you and Eddie, you guys step back to be able to go, "These are the moments, and these are the pieces." It, there's sometimes, like I, I'm good at stepping out and looking at things, but for you to understand it in such a deep level, the rabbit's foot, and each piece to be able to wrap it up into this story, and have every kind of, those loose ends being tied up in this way.

You know, it's very interesting, 'cause I'm testing movies for audiences.

That's the beautiful thing, like you make a film and you're going, uh, you learn every time, and I take it, and we put it in the next, and we put it in the next.

My interest in life and things that I want to know about and how, how can I accumulate...

The derivation of art is skill.

And I've always just kind of wanted to live my life like that and develop skills in many different areas.

I have a wide range of interest in life, so whether I'm parachuting, skydiving, flying aerobatic helicopters or airplanes, or I like to dance and sing, and you know, I love music, uh, so I take time to study these things.

I do want to ask you, when it comes to the Mission: Impossible franchise as a whole and then this film specifically, how, how difficult has it been kind of raising the bar with these set pieces that just get more massive and more massive, like, that, you know, it becomes the, uh, the big part of the promotion of the movie? How have you kind of continued to push the envelope with each of these while also making it make sense within, like, the story of the film?
