Can you explain that tax thing, please, business professor, sir?
25:53
Sure, Adam.
25:54
All it allows is for companies and organizations to write off investments quicker than they would normally have to do.
26:03
So say, for example, you have a car.
26:06
So let's put it on a – and the car costs $50,000.
26:09
Well, normally you would write off every year $10,000, $10,000 over five years.
26:14
And then at the end of those five years, the car is worth – On an accounting basis, nothing.

thoughts?
14:16
Tom, you're probably happy you're not Mark Kearney, but Kearney's in this very difficult place with a very uncooperative, to be polite, perhaps discombobulated, to be impolite partner in the U.S. How do you rate the way he's trying to manage Canadian strategy at the moment, and what do you see him prioritizing?
14:48
Tim, I feel it's pain.
14:52
That would be the first thing, but I rank him pretty high.
14:56
A number of times we've spoken, I've said, look, I think he's the right man for the right time.
15:04
I think the key thing is about being engaged and not just walking away saying, I don't want to talk to you anymore because we don't have the same power anymore.
15:14
that the United States has.
15:15
And the United States is weaponizing these tariffs and it's using it to basically get what it wants in terms of a renegotiated Kuzma.
17:01
How do you work through that market research, Tom, when you're trying to manage strategy in circumstances that are as chaotic as these?

22:19
Anything else on Deegs? Tom, you got anything on Deegs?
22:23
You know, I think he rode really good.
22:25
I think that the way that the Lawrence's ride is very bouncy, flowy, tiptoe-y around, but Deegan and Coonan are so similar where they splash into the sand, especially this past weekend.
22:38
Rather than tracking through, they splash into everything they hit.
22:43
The dichotomy there, the two different styles, it's fascinating to see them be close to the same speed because It's so different.
22:50
The way that you come out the corners is so different.
22:53
The direction you're heading is different.

27:54
But what happens when credit agencies tell people we're more of a risk? What happens to our borrowing costs?
28:04
They go up because investors like government debt because it's lower risk, but not all government debt is equal.
28:14
And mostly, if I'm an investor rating agency or bond rating agency, I look at it and says, what is the probability of the government paying it back? Now, there's never been a case, I don't think, Tim, of a government in Canada defaulting on its debt.
28:32
There has been internationally of that occurring, but there's always a case where a government may not pay back its debt because it doesn't have the ability to do that.
28:44
Karen, you found Labrador, the risk is very low, but still there's different ways of rating debt, whether AAA or AA or single A, et cetera.
28:56
And the concern of these rating agencies is that we have a decreasing aging population.
29:03
Mm-hmm.
30:08
What does that do to service provision, Tom?
