great value and something that people rest their identity on he sort of said you need to decide who it is that you're loyal to are you going to be loyal to a football club over the interests of your immediate family and your wife through your behaviors and through your wellbeing? Or are you going to be loyal to your family by doing the best thing for you, doing the best thing for your energy and who you are? And that was almost the 10 seconds of like, man, you're so right.

Good way of looking at it.

Yeah, you're so right.

And when I look back at the Eagles and all the club that I love and the people that were there that I loved, I could see that there was a timer on when that was all going to run out and that I'll be left there with my heart in my hand, standing door, I'm ready to give and there would be no one there anymore or it would be my time to go.

And then I sort of looked back at my family and thought, man, they're going to be here forever.

They're, I have a responsibility to role model the behaviors that I want my kids to have.

Everyone just came together.

And what about the feedback player to player, and not just necessarily senior players to younger players, but the other way around as well? Is it a 360-degree-type feedback operation?

Yeah.

Yeah, I suppose so.

Um, obviously when you're a bit younger, you've got a bit more to learn and, um, that's broadly speaking, and so it is probably a bit more top-down, but, um, again, it's, it's very much focused on delivering it in the right way for the right person.

You know, there seems to be, um, a large increase in terms of the negative feedback that players are exposed to, um, on a day-to-day basis through social media and online hate and, you know, all their mates.

So there's very much, um, a focus on delivering it in the right way and, a- and having that underpinning relationship and, and genuine care for the player so that they know that it's coming from the right place if there is feedback to be given.

Um, how is it that it's changed you preparing for games now compared to when it, when you started at the West Coast Eagles?

Um, mate, I would say from a vision and conceptual point of view, um, a lot of it's the same.

But I'm just interested in your thoughts on him now, particularly now just over the last couple of weeks, getting some games and some continuity to his footy, of your thoughts on what he's like and whether he's exceeded your expectations a little bit.

Yeah, he's one of those players who's, you know, I wouldn't say exceeded my expectations because I got a real good look at him over a couple of pre-seasons and he's just a really talented, hard-working man.

He attacks the footy at such speed and he breaks lines like not many players do and one of the things that I would like to say about Daisy is he's actually a tremendous leader.

He really rallies the boys around him.

He's got great game sense.

He figures out the right time to challenge the fellas and also the right time to get around them and encourage them.

So I think as well over the next few years, Will Day is just really going to continue to amass just beautiful form and great performances.
