But then I asked him to kind of fast forward till today.
37:49
So, like, if you go on Twitter, it's like, you know, just a cesspool of fascist, white supremacist, white Christian nationalist hatred on that site.
37:59
And that's lifted up by Elon Musk and by the algorithm that he has instituted based on his own ideological beliefs.
38:08
No one is able to question the matrix that he uses in order to develop the algorithm that that organization or company uses.
38:16
And no one's even allowed to see what it looks like.
38:18
And so, no, that's not free.
38:20
It's not free if you can speak, but no one's going to hear you.
40:53
He wants a monarchy.
37:45
But then I asked him to kind of fast forward till today.

17:26
So I just wanna know, like, why did y'all launch this platform right now?
17:32
Yeah, I love that question.
17:33
Let me just say this.
17:34
If, if somebody's gonna say to us that Palantir, which came out with its 22 kind of theses on the future [laughs] of, of the world, which, like, wraps up fascism [booing] and imperialism and sexism and the end of humanity and oligarchy into one, like, 22-thesis tweet, is the heart and soul of, of this country and not our public institutions, our pre-K 12 institutions in Massachusetts, our industrial factories, our universities aren't really the heart and soul of this country, and the nurses and, you know, the people who sustain us and care for us.
18:15
We are the center of society, the, the teachers and the nurses and the workers.
18:21
And so we came out with this platform.
18:24
It's been a while in the making, and basically we're trying to say that-For too long, the radical right wing has been telling a story about higher education and bashing this critical public good, the way they did to K-12 a decade ago, in order to undermine this public good.

10 MINS LATER

28:38
[laughs]
53:01
Uh, Todd, uh, your response to the judge's decision and why the AAUP felt so... that it, that it needed to be a plaintiff in this case?
53:11
Yeah.
53:11
I mean, we're really happy about this decision as a, a step forward.
53:17
I mean, as, as, um, Mahmoud and Alex, uh, detailed it, it just confirms what we knew, that this was unconstitutional and illegal, these abductions for political speech.
53:27
Um, and, and the reason we took this case on is because, you know, faculty, students and staff in higher education are, are living in fear right now.
53:36
The Trump administration is purposefully attacking our sector, attacking our speech rights, attacking our, um, our institutions, whether it's Columbia and Harvard or UCLA, and we felt like it was critical to step up and step into this fight through the courts and through other mechanisms to push back and to defend our members who are largely faculty, but also students and staff working on our campuses.
