Walter, saying that in her experience tracking all these other countries, the United States is in a similar vein," all of a sudden they're like, "Well, what am I supposed to debate now?" A civil war can't happen in the United States." And I say, "Okay, fine.

So it does seem like it would inherently favor the bad faith left sort of click, uh, or, or clip, uh, current climate.

Well, uh, for a long time, I, I, I, I had said on my show like I would never do something like that, but there's always a, a, a logical and mathematical component to all of these things I'm doing, so I'll just keep it really simple, and here's the honest truth.

Uh, forcing a liberal publication to refer to me as a moderate and give me an opportunity to say things they normally wouldn't let me say was the principal reason for doing it.

So I argue that the rights of man are derived from the will or the duties God bestows upon man.

The requirements that we have from God, which is be fruitful and multiply, requires a handful of things for which we recognize in the United States that we allow other people to do.

Fully recognizing that other groups have different ideas of what rights are.

So I would argue rights are we need to be able to communicate.

We need to protect ourselves and we need to be secure in our possessions.

These are principal rights that we struggle to survive without.

Safeguard Veterans, any door, the right support.

So why is he, why is he, why has he allowed himself, I think by people in his administration, like Stephen Miller and others, to be sucked in to a much wider, much more problematic program of masked ICE agents running around like a bunch of fascists, as many people have called them, you know, just bashing doors down, running into Home Depot, seizing anyone who might be there undocumented? That's a far more complex thing and far less popular.

I, I had heavily criticized the DHS and the Trump administration, going back to the election, saying that we should not live in a country where our law enforcement are masking up, and we can't see their faces.

We don't wanna live in a country like that.

The, the argument I got largely from Trump supporters is that, well, they're threatened by domestic terrorists.

They'll, they'll come to their homes, they'll kill their family.

Why does it matter to you so much to do this?

Well, the simple answer is that there was a coalition that was built by many- many people with...

This coalition had many different political views, but it largely coalesced around a populist, pro-America movement.

I myself grew up very liberal, very Democrat, and like many others, found ourselves more likely to vote Republican because we saw the Democratic Party as drifting away.

One of the most powerful voices in uniting all of these forces was Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA.

I don't completely agree with everything Charlie said, nor Turning Point USA, but Charlie invited me and many others to debate those ideas.

Even Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks was invited to come and speak at AMFest, because Charlie understood only when we come together and have these conversations can we actually make this country better.

So just explain to people who don't know what happened to you.

So, eh, uh, a guy who's been arrested before probably isn't going to r- react like that.

Right, yeah.

This looks to me like some chubby loser with no purpose who thinks he's playing a game.

He splashed paint at the ICE facility, that's criminal damage to federal property.

I don't, I, I don't, I don't think it's effective to throw him in lockup for a year because that could actually radicalize his friends.

They, they actually rely on this.

One of the strategies the far left uses is to intentionally get stupid people, people arrested to then radicalize them because they'll tell you, "Wasn't the punishment excessive?" So you gotta find that happy medium where his friends will be like, "I don't wanna go over to jail for a month.

And I explicitly stated, one of my key points of the show is that if you create this bifurcation in, in, in the world, and if, if you do not allow people the ability to speak and come together, I'm gonna build a van and go live down by the river, because it's gonna, it's gonna go, it's gonna be civil war.

It's gonna be crazy.

What I see now is...I am pessimistic.

I hate to say this, people call me blackpilled.

But when you have social media platforms that allow monetization and social growth from celebrating assassinations, you will get more of it.

Young people were told after the assassination of Brian Thompson in New York that assassins are celebrated by the left on social media, and they told me, you know, YouTube, X, all these platforms, well, Twitter, before Elon bought it, celebration of death is against the rules, to celebrate murder and violence is against the rules.

Mm-hmm.

But, as somebody who I know has, you know, has, has often been appalled by the cancel culture, which enveloped our society for the last few years, do you feel comfortable with the way many on the right are gleefully celebrating Kimmel getting fired? You know, urging more draconian action against him and against other late night stars, and so on, for being anti-Trump and so on? Is it not really the same kind of behavior that you guys on the right would castigate the left for doing?

No.

I, I can't speak for anyone but myself, so I don't know about what draconian measures people would ask for.

I certainly wouldn't support that.

But Jimmy Kimmel got fired, according to the Wall Street Journal and The Hollywood, Hollywood Reporter, because he refused to apologize, he wasn't planning on apologizing, he in fact was planning on furthering the commentary criticizing MAGA for twisting his words.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the executives approached him on his side saying, they were actually gonna defend him, but the advertisers and the affiliates were upset over the comments that he made portraying the assassin as a MAGA guy.

When Jimmy Kimmel expressed his desire to further that line that he had pressed the day before, that's when they had a private meeting and decided to pull the show.

Mm.

Yeah, 72 million Millennials right now, 69 million Gen Z, 40 million Gen Alpha.

So talking about share, if in 20 years we're looking at, uh, Gen Alpha and Gen Z, the dominant generations, there are substantially, substantially less of them to buy products, to buy tickets, to know who you are, and there's an increasing competition from de- decentralization of media.

So I don't know how we end up with another Ann Coulter, Bill Maher, Joe Rogan personality.

You know, and, and like the Bohemian Rhapsody song.

If I go to, if I go to anybody in my town where I grew up with, they all watched your show.

It's, it's liberal Chicago, and everybody would put on Real Time, uh, and Jon Stewart and things like that.

Yeah.

When they landed, they arrived on barren shores.

And after that, a majority of them died.

And those who survived the winter, either through sheer grit, luck, or the assistance of Native Americans in some instances, were able to then have children, and a lot of that grit was passed down.

This is why I see the difference between the European, uh, uh, perspective on hate speech and things like this versus the United States, gun rights, for instance.

That harsh journey, it killed the weak.

but...You are stretching the definition of war way beyond its remit.

In all honesty, would you have said the same analysis if it was Biden?

Probably not.

Uh, I, I do think it's fair to point out that we're all gonna be biased in some regard or another.

And Donald Trump's administration, his worldview and his policies more align with me morally, uh, and I think that's a big issue for most people.

Uh, that being said, uh, when Joe Biden came out and he was fighting against overdraft fees, I p- I praised it.

If Joe Biden had come out and said, "We're gonna put tariffs in these certain areas..." In fact we, I, I never criticized him on any of the tariffs he did.

I think the issue is largely criticize where criticism is due and praise where praise is due.

He's gone ahead with it, uh, issued arts- articles of impeachment against Trump.

What can we as freedom lovers, conservatives, libertarians, non-leftists, what can we do to stay ahead of the curve to, uh, make sure that we don't lose our incumbent advantage in this alternative media space?

It's tough, man.

I honestly, I don't have a, a good answer because money talks.

You know, they're, if- if they, if they dump tens of millions of dollars on TV outdoor and ads, advertisements work.

People should not underestimate this.

I think the right should be doing the same thing.
