He's had one of those weeks.
98:41
He's got a chance, hasn't he? Yeah, there's one in the first.
98:45
I really like...
98:49
If we go race seven, we're leaving the other options pretty thin with a couple of short-priced favourites.
98:57
Oh, we're not
101:12
the price.
101:13
Trained by the father-in-law, Ashley Herbertson, James' dad, so he wouldn't be putting her on if he didn't think Hurrah Filtre was a chance yet.
101:22
Certainly one at odds you could play.
8:20
wouldn't she? $17.
8:22
Sorry, it was $17.
8:23
So I reckon she might be the only leader.
8:27
Yeah, you get back at each way.
8:28
$3.30 the price.
8:31
trained by the father-in-law, Ashley Herbertson, James' dad, so he wouldn't be putting her on if he didn't think Hurrah! Filtra was a chance yet.
8:40
Certainly one at odds you could play.
10:36
Two-year-olds,
4:47
But tell us, what drew you to teaching? and eventually into leadership roles what's what's your journey been
4:56
yeah that's a good question um my father was a teacher and then a principal of a school yeah and he he was actually opposed to me entering the profession he thought there were plenty of other things that i could do unsurprisingly but actually probably like a lot of um seven formers or year 13 students In my sim form, yeah, I really didn't know what I wanted to do.
5:23
And I was sort of thinking around a range of areas like horticulture where I had an interest.
5:30
And it was my economics teacher and form teacher who said to me you you'd actually make a good teacher why don't you um why don't you go to teachers college yeah and it made me think um and i think sometimes it's just when you actually have someone who has influence in your life or a respected teacher that you do listen to them and makes it makes you ponder and then um so i i i went to teachers college and uh joined the profession and then uh relatively early on in my career the head of i was an english teacher and the head of english at the school uh that i was at wanganui boys um came to me in those days with a hard copy education gazette And had two jobs circled and said to me, you need to apply for those two jobs.
6:26
And I said to him, if you hadn't had enough of me.
6:31
You'd be wondering, I've only been here a short time.
6:35
Exactly.

27 MINS LATER

33:08
What are the mistakes that parents should avoid when it comes to the way they manage that transition themselves and their interfacing with the school and the teachers?
20:25
What do you reckon?
20:27
Oh, I think there's even more of a place for a single-sex boys education than ever before.
20:33
And, um, Dean, I, I think, uh, the likes of New Plymouth Boys, Pami Boys, Grammar are, are just better places, um, than when we were at school.
20:42
And the quality of care that we can give to young men now, um, is exceptional.
20:49
And, uh, so there is a really important place for boys to be able to get educated, uh, in a boys-only environment where the sense of belonging, the culture, uh, those things that are critical for boys are present on a daily basis.
21:08
Where ...
21:09
And again, I'd say, uh, the importance of being able to develop relationships with, uh, role models, um, is a critical part of their development too.

11 MINS LATER

31:54
[laughs]
113:23
I think you're safe.
113:24
You're safe.
113:25
We can't do course online.
113:28
You boys do remember, just touching on the family history there for a second.
113:32
I think most of our listeners will remember the year 2000 when John
113:42
that
113:43
Inter-Dominion at Moonee Valley in 2000.
113:45
And even the thoroughbred people that I talked to still say that that is about as loud as it ever got at the Valley across all types of racing when Shaker Maker hit the front there and won that Inter-Dominion in 2000.
102:42
Are you on track?
102:44
No, not me, Bronte.
102:45
The capable hands of Bronte on track tonight.
102:47
It looks like she's got reasonable weather looking here at Ballarat, but I don't know what it's going to be like a bit later on.
102:53
Eight races on the program.
102:55
I guess the story is the continued dominance of Emma Stewart.
102:59
Having a look at the Victorian Metropolitan Trainers Premiership as we head into the back half of the year, of course, in the harness racing, fellas, the season runs the calendar year.
105:36
Tell us why Emma Stewart, why is she so good? That
5:41
Of course, Bronte will be on track for Sky Racing the first at 5.29. Who do you like tonight, by the way?
5:46
Well, let's quickly start with...
5:49
Should we look at the two big ones up at Albion Park? Yeah.
5:53
I mean, we've got Leap to Fame.
5:56
For those that follow harness racing and will know Leap to Fame, he goes around at $1.04 just about every time he goes around.
6:02
But we can have a bet on him tonight if we fancy.
6:05
The barrier draws haven't gone his way.
6:48
You must.
speaker_19AUDIENCE
100:02
the Pacing Cup
100:02
and also the Trotters Cup.
100:03
The Pacing Cup, they went with something different.
100:05
As I spoke last week, they went the heats into final on the same day, a bit like the Great Southern Star, which was a real success.
100:13
So we had Evil Eye winning the first heat and then Long Tan Viper winning the second.
100:17
Those horses that qualified, I think it was 11... out of those two heats early in the day that qualified for the final.
100:25
The final was the last of eight at around 4.30 p.m., and it was Longtown Viper who came out and won again and won the downtown of Warrigal Pacing Cup for Paul Tonkin and Alan Tormey.
103:53
Melton, are you on the box? Have you done the locks yet?
106:17
It's from Warragul, yeah.
106:19
Yeah, so this is their annual meeting.
106:21
It's their cup day.
106:23
The club's had a bit of a crack at trying something new this year.
106:25
So the Great Southern Star we run in February, guys, with the big trotting event here at Melton where – The Trotters run in heats at the start of the night and then the qualifiers run again on the same card later on the night.
106:38
This is the theme for the Warragul Pacing Cup.
106:41
So races one and two on Monday, just after 12 o'clock, are the heats.
107:40
And your track side at Melton tonight, first race at 5.08. Have you got a couple of bests for us?
4:23
What are you picking up on that front?
4:27
Well, they're certainly not seeing it as often as we normally would, as we have in the past, I should say, which is a good thing.
4:37
And I suspect he's probably right.
4:40
I think that it's not talked about as much.
4:44
And so we're seeing less of it.
4:46
That said, we've also... changed all sorts of things or in our school and I'm sure other schools have done the same where you know just reduced created toilet structures that actually are just individual cubicles so that there are no gathering areas for the low lives.
5:20
So are you hearing that at all?
5:24
No, not hearing that, but it could be.
0:51
What are you picking up on that front?
0:55
Well, they're certainly not seeing it as often as we normally would, as we have in the past, I should say, which is a good thing.
1:06
And I suspect he's probably right.
1:08
I think that it's not talked about as much.
1:12
And so we're seeing less of it.
1:14
That said, we've also... changed all sorts of things in our school and I'm sure other schools have done the same where you've just reduced, created toilet structures that actually are just individual cubicles so that there are no gathering areas for the low lives.
1:48
So are you hearing that at all?
1:53
No, not hearing that, but it could be.
