Tim, what does culture building mean to you? Yeah,
35:46
essentially I think a lot of the same things Sean just said.
35:49
I mean, I think the concept of hard work, as I've stated, is a really important one for me, and I think it's one that I think you kind of – you kind of either have it or you don't.
36:01
If I have to push you to work harder, chances are you're going to feel resentment, right? If it's just not naturally in you.
36:09
So I think first for me, it's do I find people or can I find people who truly are wired in a way that they want to work hard? Can I find people that create an environment where they root for each other? I think that's critically important.
36:24
I've worked in other environments where it was too much of one person's success meant the other person failed and vice versa.
36:32
And I don't like that.

No, Tim, I'll let

So can you talk about what are some of the biggest differences and how leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLS approach leadership? doing business specifically when it comes to fan engagement and community engagement with the fans.
2:35
So it's interesting because I have about 45 interns that just started yesterday and we bring them all into the room as part of their internship process and You know, they get a chance to, you know, I guess talk a little bit with myself and ask me questions and similar kind of expression came up.
2:50
And one of the things I always tell people, you know, when you work at the MLS, it's a very entrepreneurial venture.
2:56
You know, you're building brick by brick, you're slugging through it.
2:59
And that, that entrepreneurial spirit is, is part of it and it's fun and it drives you and it's really attractive to certain people.
3:08
And I compare that to, I'll say like the NFL world, which, which is a very established, big, you know, behemoth type brand, but probably not as entrepreneurial, obviously not as much of a startup, right? They're a, they get a hundred year head start on us, just from an enterprise standpoint.
3:23
And so, I think when you're in the environment that we are in, in MLS, you know you're going to basically work for you know 95 cents of the revenue pie 95 of that revenue pie is you know local monies that we're trying to be responsible we're trying to generate ticket sales and sponsorship sales and so when you think of that that revenue pie like how much of it is driven by the local market is heavily local for an mls team and if i compare that to some some of the other leagues you know you might say that their national tv deal is so big And maybe some of the leagues have really big local TV deals, and you kind of capture the local TV deal and the national TV deal together, that the remaining part of the revenue pie becomes relatively small.

And we hear all the time that it's a 40 or $50 billion industry when you take in everything with the tournaments and technology and companies that are supporting the space so it's definitely one of those exciting verticals in sports but just to round out the conversation tim what advice would you give to somebody who's maybe like a version of you from 20 years ago who's looking to get to the level that you're at currently today
137:13
Did you have a feeling that maybe you
137:15
guys could achieve this? Yeah, look, the truth be told, if you look at the last season, probably six, seven years, we've had a lot of remarkable years.
137:26
We have a lot of kind of metrics that we'll look at that we are first in, you know, first in points, first in goals scored.
137:33
So there's a lot of stuff that we've been pretty darn good at.
137:37
We do it a little bit different, right? So, you know, in a one way, we say the money ball approach, right? Right, right, right.
137:44
You know, like the Oakland A's and kind of Billy B and all that type of stuff.
137:46
So we use a lot of data.
