But I'm interested here, and just to kind of kick this off, how did you get interested in negotiation as a platform in which to develop your career around?
4:33
Yeah, so my motto is believe it is possible.
4:36
And that started when I was 19 years old.
4:39
And honestly, I'd had a really rough time.
4:42
Life wasn't going the way I thought it would go.
4:46
And I found myself in the position where, like, I'd had a death in the family.
4:52
My mother had passed away very quickly from cancer.

So with that as a kind of a backdrop, in the work that you do with your clients, do you actually come into a domain where the mind-body structure starts to come into play, adjusting physiology, being able to play with the geometry in the room, the geography in which people are actually organizing themselves around.
3:57
What are we utilizing to be these magnets that you suggest we are?
4:03
Oh, 100%.
4:04
And I came up with the magnetic influence framework because I believe we've got a new professional archetype on our hands, right? It's the person that can deal with AI fluency, i.e.
4:16
they understand the AI landscape and LLMs.
4:19
And at the same time, they understand human connection and just how important it is to master these skills.
4:25
So magnetic, it actually stands for meaningful impact.
4:29
That's the position that you have when you're negotiating.
7:18
How do you begin the first step to have people kind of peek out a little bit and say, well, maybe it's safe enough to come out here and actually do something?
18:04
Do you reckon it's the proliferation of the ease of technology, the ease of access or laziness or something in between that has led to people reverting to easier forms of communication in their eyes and not doing the thing that really people want and crave, which is human connection? I think ChatGPT,
18:30
let's just take that as a 40% of leaders are using chat GPT.
18:33
And there are ways that you can use AI that are fundamentally going to make you more productive and effective.
18:39
And that's a fact like crunching data, research analysis, translating business notes.
18:46
And yet with that being the ease, it's so easy to erode the habit of the very thing that's going to make you valuable in the next 18 months.
18:56
And that's the problem is that it's easier to, to default to have ai do the complete picture and to have it tell you how to speak and the words you should be using and only have those words right and then miss out on the fact that yeah we need to meet face to face and it's me that's got to control the emotional temperature of room when things go sideways or i misinterpret in the room and there's other egos at play and reasons so Being understanding about what AI is good at and what the human is good at.
19:27
So I see it as a new professional archetype that's evolving now.

Are there some specific things that people can start to... work on, implement, build the muscle around to help them become more magnetic.
