Iran started to target ships that were using the shipping lane close to the coast of Oman to impose this control.

Um, and that has escalated in the past two weeks to, by now, uh, uh, regular strikes by Iran on ships, uh, on military bases of the US and the region, and the US, um, hitting back at, uh, Iranian military assets and dual use assets.
