Um, so if you have in China, among Chinese leadership, if you have this universally accepted narrative that the US is on a decline and on a path to not being, uh, the world's former superpower anymore, maybe path to, uh, somewhat irrelevant Then what are the conclusions of this in China's perspective? What, what does it mean for what China should do and how it should behave and how it should operate in the world if my main, my basically my base case scenario is that the US is on a decline, and I guess I am, if I'm China, then I am on, on the rise?

So I wouldn't say, uh, universally accepted.

This is the majority, uh, position, I would say.

Uh, and, um, I also wouldn't say, you know, uh, irrelevance for the US, but, uh, no longer the, the top position, uh, and the relative decline.

Um, and it's not only because I said, uh, the government, the leadership, and I said scholars, intellectual elites, also the, the population, the Chinese societies is also interesting.

Uh, China's articles about how the population, uh, used to always look up to the US and how things have changed there, uh, where, you know, you also said about Trump talking about Xi Jinping on sort of an eye-to-eye level.

There, uh, you know, the Chinese society looking at the US as eye-to-eye level or even partly looking down on the US, uh, where they used to look up and, you know, uh, bringing up, uh, examples like, um, the fragility of middle class, uh, in, in, in the US.

And then to me it becomes, uh, less about just to, you know, if one will rise and the other will de- decline, but much more about, okay, how fast will the hegemon decline, and how big are the challenges in my own, if I'm speaking from Chinese perspective, how big are the challenges for me, and how much will that complicate my own, uh, rise? Uh, so it becomes a question of the nuance and how much and when rather than just if that's, that's going to happen.
