KEMPER PROFILER - Tones & Talks - Tones4Bass #2

. .

Thomas DillGUEST
a neutral clean bass tone so what you can do with that is to mess around with the amp menu with the controls in the amp menu i will turn that down to the basic mode so you don't get confused with all the many knobs here because i'm only using definition and gain and all the eq settings so first thing is definition is at zero you can turn that up so there's not that much low end but if you like to have more of you have higher frequency based you can do that you can add the low So you get this, you have more defined tone, more tight bass end, low end.

Thomas DillGUEST
but I won't do that with that profile because it's a yeah I profile that one for to be clean and you can later take the distorted one because it has a better distorted sound so I'm going back to the normal state was 1.7 okay so next thing is we don't have a cabinet here because it's only the preamp so we can't do if we want to have more low end so this is the maximum or with the bass the maximum of low end you can take with the preamp.

Thomas DillGUEST
The first thing I had in mind was, okay, finding some kind of clean breakup tone for the single coil tone.

Thomas DillGUEST
Be- because they are really sounding nice, crispy, and I wanted to have this basic tone, this, uh, clear tone, this sparkling guitar tone and like to feature that.

Thomas DillGUEST
So I went to the, um, factory content, the 2.0 factory content, and checked some rigs with, uh, less gain.

I'm fine.

Thomas DillGUEST
So, um, in the song, um, the first thing or first part for the guitar was, uh, having a clean rhythm guitar, funky rhythm guitar tone, um, with the combination of both pickups and, uh, the neck pickup only with single coil mode.

Thomas DillGUEST
So, um, I started searching for all these profiles or what I, what I like to use, and I ended up using my, um, the Twin here, um, which is in the factory content.

So what's your take on that?

Thomas DillGUEST
I have another take, another update to do compared to our last session with the black, my black, old multiac nylon guitar.

Thomas DillGUEST
I thought, okay, we have profiling 2.0, we don't have any acoustic preamps, any stuff for acoustic guitars with profiling 2.0.

Thomas DillGUEST
The Chandler TG-2, which is my favorite preamp for guitar recording, for bass, for many things.

Thomas DillGUEST
And also I played the Godard guitar through this tg2 preamp and it sounded good so this is a kind of neutral preamp it doesn't have any eqing or something you can drive it a little bit hot but this is not the purpose for acoustic guitars or for this nylon string guitars it's nice for having bass to drive it a little bit hop to get some overdrive sounds but i just wanted to have this clear sheet of paper profilen, og dette er det jeg gjorde, og dette er det jeg ønsker å dele med alle, og jeg vil forklare hvordan det fungerte, og hvordan det lyder, og hvordan forskjellen er mellem denne ene, og ingen amp, som mange mennesker gjør, så mange mennesker ikke liker, så meg også, some of these acoustic preamps because they shape the tone too much for my taste of tone so i really like to have this neutral tone and go into the pa system on stage or record some electric acoustic guitars with a neutral tone and then shape the tone in the daw or let the mixer the tone inch do his job with his mixing board No further shaping, because the guitar, I think many acoustic guitars, if they are really great acoustic guitars, they have their own tone, their own sound, and I don't want to go into that sound, I want to leave that sound, if I have a good sounding acoustic guitar like that one.

So looking forward to this.

Thomas DillGUEST
So we have four different noise gates, and I would like to, yeah, give you a, just a quick overview of all these noise gates.

Thomas DillGUEST
Um, then we have a fixed effects noise gate for the Mark II, um, machines and the Profiler Player, and we have a Noise Gate 2.1 and a Noise Gate 4.1.

So what have you prepared for us?

Thomas DillGUEST
yes we didn't really talk about the rig manager on a mobile device i always showed you all the tones all the editing stuff on my computer rig manager and they are nearly the same but a little bit different same same but different so um i would take a closer look to the mobile rig manager because this one is very important when you're gigging i always have my ipad with me when i'm on stage with the profiler stage or the profiler player and if there is something need that to be edited some simple things the sound engineer asks you to give for the PA out a little less volume less level so on the profiler player when you control with the master volume your monitor volume your sound on stage then you don't have another master volume knob so you might need to go to the Rig Manager, to the Output Menu and then going back and turn down the volume.

Thomas DillGUEST
You can press it, but it's easier to go just into the Rig Manager, Output Menu and then step in.

Thomas DillGUEST
But this is just one simple thing that I experienced sometimes that when sound engineers asked me, hey, can you turn that profiler a little bit lower from the level.
T
7:10TomHOST
But, you know, I have the second player there and I also have the head and I gave them individual names so I can easily see which one I'm working on.

So, um, first of all, here is the player, my player, and here is the RetroVision display.

Thomas DillGUEST
So this is a really nice, fine solution which can be connected to the USB-A port.

... more intense in terms of tones.

Thomas DillGUEST
So, um, today we've, uh, let's say high gain setup and a bit different to the last setup.

Thomas DillGUEST
So where I've selected one amp and edited the other sounds out of this one amp, now I do the opposite.

Thomas DillGUEST
I take three different amps, so three different favorite high gain amps from the rig pack, and try to manage them to glue together so that they can, um, work in a live situation.

Thomas DillGUEST
So not too much based on one amp and not less based on one amp, but to keep the characters of these amps because, um, I like them really much.
