yeah sure um it was okay i was uh like i said it was a holiday it was labor day and uh i used to ride horses and i was uh i was riding a competition a 4-h show competition and uh my it was getting late you know we had to go be in bed by nine and my mother and grandmother used to own and run a diner which is now roberto's it used to be the village green in sheffield and so we had to cook stay open later because it was a holiday so we went back to the you know the place to lock it up you to make the night deposit drop you know make sure it was ready for morning and um so we hung out there for a little bit dropped a couple quarters in a jukebox i remember used to listen to jukebox all the time and uh it was about 8 30 and if you watch unsolved mysteries then you know melanie had an experience right around 7 30 or 8 at the lake and that so it was over water And we were a little further.

We were almost on a Connecticut line.

So Melanie was further into Massachusetts.

So we actually when we left, we were kind of headed towards the way the UFO was coming, which was down the Housatonic River.

And and so my it was getting late.

So my mother decided to take the shortcut and she went through a bridge, his old Sheffield Bridge.

So I'm like, well, is this all of this inside of the UFO or you think, you know, where you were was actually a lot bigger?

But so, yeah, there was talk on the school bus, a lot of that.

And now here's something else like the Melanie's.

I didn't really know Melanie back in the day, but Melanie used to eat at her diner.

And one of the things that really happened immediately afterwards was that you could kind of see this divide in the children.

You know, you had those that you know, were more local who, you know, didn't, you know, they weren't the more educated, right? And then you had a lot of New Yorkers coming into the area because there was a big race track there.

It was the second biggest track to Saratoga.

So I'm like, well, it's just all of this inside of the UFO or you, you don't, you think, you know, where you were, where was actually a lot bigger.

you know, they weren't the more educated, right? And then you had a lot of New Yorkers coming into the area because there was a big race track there.

It was the second biggest track to Saratoga.

So you had a lot of the New Yorkers, people coming in from Albany, Manhattan, Hartford.

And so you had this big mix of people.

and you could all actually see you know you had the the children from you know different types of families that were starting to team together that normally wouldn't have talked because they were from different backgrounds but they had experienced the same thing so it was actually kind of bringing this these people together that wouldn't have normally been friends if that makes sense yeah because it happened part of what they saw and that bonded them and to take that step further those kids are the ones that later on got us case inducted into state because now they're historians now they're lawyers or judges but back in the day they weren't they wouldn't have normally been friends and and and so with that said my mother used to you know we used to she used to have this thing where she's a deep fry you know potatoes or french fries in bacon fat So it was really good, you know, just deep fried and bacon fat.

And she would give the kids that were kind of now outcasts because they would talk about this and they got picked on in school, you know, the whole thing.

So I'm like, well, is this all of this inside of the UFO? Or you think, you know, where you were was actually a lot bigger?

But this is your family's story.

Yeah, the case that got inducted in the state is, and if you look at the documentation, and I encourage people to look at it, it is the Reed family incident or the Reed family off-world incident, which is how it was inducted by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and, of course, the Historical Society.

So here's kind of what happened.

It was September 1st, 1969.
