Having a dramaturg definitely clarifies so much of the world and there is no play without a dramaturg.

The dramaturg can also be the outside eye or what I learnt as being the friend of the play.

So someone who is not necessarily as immersed as the performers, designers, director, stage manager, but can advocate for all of those areas and just be a friend of those areas and make sure things kind of meet together conceptually and provide a solid container for everything to be able to interact together based on research.
