we mostly prioritize you know results things that can be seen you know can you get the job done can you do this and that so sometimes emotional literacy is not something that people can see like people can't tell whether or not you've had the right amount of emotional literacy so there's that aspect of it not being prioritized.
20:30
So even if you might, you know, offer a course on emotional literacy, but then someone might be asking like, okay, you know, but I'm kind of struggling with my finances and there are other priorities than understanding, you know, how I feel or how other people feel.
20:49
Like, why is that necessary? So that would actually be the first question in terms of like, do people understand why they need emotional literacy the importance of it and um for young people specifically where i would say maybe there's a gap is because they go into the workforce you know conditioned in a certain way so depending on let's say how you're brought up your parents may have raised you you know to be more um What work can I use to be more useful, to be supportive, to make sure that you are putting your best version out there? And then you go into the workplace and you're giving maybe 100% of your energy without having the tools to recognize whether that space is healthy enough.
21:46
to receive that kind of energy from you.
21:47
So you might find they have a manager who's really abusive, who extracts, uses them until they're completely emotionally depleted.
21:55
And they were not able to tell when was the line being crossed? You know, when was I feeling uncomfortable? So, you know, how can I tell when the workplace becomes toxic and I'm giving too much of myself? So experience matters, of course.
