A parent's guide to raising children.

Yes.

What is that about? You know what, I'm glad you asked that.

So the book in general, the idea came to me when I thought about the relationship that I had with my dad.

You know, my parents never married.

And so, but I had a relationship with my father.

I'm from Battle Creek, Michigan.

Why did they change that rule, and now they're putting the children with the mother, knowing that a mother can't raise children?

Yeah.

And so, so as a result of that, because my father wasn't there, um, every day and those kind of things, it kinda drove me to actually write this book to give people an example, especially if they're young couples, you know, newly married and they haven't had kids yet, or even if they had children, um, giving them an idea based on how my wife and I raised our daughters.

I kinda explain in my book, Just Being There: A Parent's Guide to Raising Children, to give them some foundational things that they can, um, consider.

Not saying it's a perfect blueprint, 'cause everybody's situation is different, but giving them at least some tips that, uh, they can learn from my wife and I when we raised our daughters on how to raise your children.

And, and, and, uh, half the battle is just being there.

Um, I know that, um, even though I was an educator, I was a principal at the high school level, um, I had kids that had, you know, were living with mom and stepdad, and then there was dad and stepmom, but they all made it work, you know? They still understood that they had a child that they had in common, and they needed the love of everybody to come to the table to see to it that they are successful in their, uh, in school and in life in general.

And so, so that's kind of the, uh, the gist of the book.

Man, I'll tell you what.

He had a certain way of really addressing those kind of things because he understood that, you know, if we're going to continue to keep living in the past, especially those of us who are living in the path that we didn't actually naturally live in, if we're going to keep living that way, then we're going to have a lifetime of nothing but pain, discouragement, and so on.

And so what he worked on was really trying to pull us out of all these grievances that these people have, even though clearly in front of us we know that things have changed in the great country that we live in, by the grace of God, that things have changed for the better.

But he was very, very a mastermind behind everything.

using certain words and certain approaches to at least allow us to see things for what they truly are, not for what people are wanting us to think.

So he allowed us the freedom to think how we want to think, but also he also gave us the absolute facts where we truly are.
