And then when you go home, the situation might not be the same, right? So how do you navigate that and like not fall in to the lifestyle creep of having to – put on a facade for the people, even though the money hasn't caught up to the quote unquote look yet?
9:40
Well, I think then it was a different time in the world, right? So I believe that at that point, you know, fame was its own currency.
9:48
And so it didn't take long before the bookings, the endorsement deals, you know, you're able to monetize your situation, right? Whereas today, it's a completely different marketplace, right? It's a completely different world, right? The cost of doing that type of business has changed exponentially, right? To produce a show like 106 and Park, multimillion dollar production, crew, lighting, gaffers, all of that.
10:18
Buying these microphones and having this set up was thousands and thousands of dollars more than it is today now that technology has caught up.
10:28
So back then, I didn't have to fake the money part because it quickly turned into a lot of other things.
10:36
And then, you know... that caught up with it now it's so much different right because if you are a young person that wants to emulate George and Carter and start your you know if you're the 18 year old version that wants to do what you guys are doing right you do have to have a kind of put on a show in order to get, no private equity guys are going to invest if you can't prove a thing, right? So now you find so many different young people that are kind of trying to make it look like they got it before they got it, right? They're renting cars, they're getting into bad deals, they're doing things with crazy interest rates, they're in, you know, apartments and condos that they can't quite afford yet.
11:20
And so there is a fake it till you make it type mentality.

I think what I want to transition is, so you're talking about some mistakes, right? And people see success and they don't know that failures have to happen for that success to be today, right? So can you take us like to some early, just like financial mistakes that you just wish somebody would have helped you avoid that you had to learn the hard way so that our listeners like don't have to learn that lesson?
26:19
Yep
26:19
... and you realize how precious this opportunity that we have is, called life, you realize how important it is to help others, right? How important it is to give back, how important it is to help the next generation not make the same mistakes that our generation made.
26:42
How to set them up for success in ways that we never saw, right? So I, you know, I do charity in mul- in a multitude of different ways.
26:51
I've given charity back.
26:52
I, I'm on several boards.
26:55
Uh, I, I love education, um, and I went to a h- historically Black college, North Carolina A&T State University.
27:01
Uh, and, a- and so I'm very active with my university, uh, from actually donating money from a financial standpoint, to working with the young people there, to doing a ton of work with all types of organizations, from the NAACP to United Negro College Fund.
29:00
What percentage of your net worth do you leave to those future children?
70:17
Who is unimportant at this point in time.
70:19
Y'all making all the money.
70:20
It could be yours.
70:21
You might have...
70:22
Both of y'all, y'all got so much coming in, you might have left some-

Come on, now.
72:34
So, I mean, if it, if it's there, I understand maybe you, you know, you carve out a little something, but you, you gotta watch out with getting too greedy.
73:41
Come on, now.
73:41
So I mean, if it, if it's there, I understand maybe you, you know, you carve out a little something.
73:47
But you, you gotta watch out with getting too greedy.
78:11
It's a, I love, I love-
78:12
No, we can't leave that.
78:13
If we, we get a opportunity of a lifetime, and we done ran across this money, we just need Ocho to do right.
