I would love it, Terry, if I could ask you to tell us a little bit about the story of how you came to make this incredible album.

Terence CollieGUEST
Um, it all came about, the catalyst really was, uh, I got a MOBO Amplified Award to do a new recording and, um, I thought of the, what does MOBO mean to me? So I thought I would look at, uh, music of Black origin, how that related to me, and then I re- looked back at a s- you know, a story my father told me about my third great-grandfather who traveled from Scotland to the Seychelles in the 1830s and, uh, jumped on a boat and never came back.

And, uh, he was a, he was a school teacher, and I think he started up one of the first English-speaking schools in the Seychelles, and I thought that was a really interesting story, so I thought that w- that w- that was what kicked off the album.

Terence CollieGUEST
So then I thought I would write s- some more tunes along the similar sort of vein, places that I visited in the Seychelles, you know, family homes, uh, on both sides of my parents 'cause they're both from, from the Seychelles.

And then, you know, um, other islands and anything that kinda grabbed me that I thought I could write a tune about basically.
