in terms of like it shouldn't feel horrible and a lot of times I think that marketing can feel kind of horrible because you're looking at words like algorithms and who's going to be you know who's going to be looking at it and how do you get around the algorithms and and and how do you put it on all these different spaces and and it feels very overwhelming so tell us what is this this lovely thing that you call anti-marketing which I think is a brilliant term sure

yeah well and it's really funny too because like anti-marketing kind of came up as as i was like a bit of a catchphrase really right because authors hate marketing so anti-marketing we don't want to do that but really it's not about avoiding marketing it's about doing it differently and that's the the big thing to me and the the other interesting part of it is that When you Google what is anti-marketing, there are actually a number of different definitions.

And a common one, which I do actually see a number of authors doing, is that reverse psychology approach of like, oh, don't buy this and you don't want this, right? It can be fun.
4:20
It can absolutely be fun.
4:22
And I've seen a lot of authors do a few pieces with that really well.
4:26
It can also get a little tiring when it's overdone and that's all they're doing.

So you want to use it with caution.

Tell me like, what is this? What does this look like in everyday life?
