Can you talk about the misogyny at the core of the authoritarian building and organizing strategy and the impacts women are experiencing under authoritarian consolidation?
8:02
Absolutely.
8:03
I think it's so interesting if we look at, you know, other authoritarian regimes and we go we can go back to Italy, we can go back to, you know, Nazi Germany and see the ways in which gender, the defining the in the segmentation of folks by gender has been such a crucial part of building the authoritarian project.
8:27
And in particular, being very specific about gender roles and really sort of, I want to say old school is what's coming to my mind about, you know, those definitions of gender roles.
8:43
And not allowing folks to sort of stray inside or outside of that in any particular way.
8:48
And so we see that happening right now.
8:50
And in particular, I think it's interesting the way that social media plays into the defining of that and the shaping of that in this era.

24:45
So what have you been learning from that process?
26:33
Hmm.
26:33
... up to the ideals it was founded on.
26:35
So we are seeing over 300 actions, all 50 states right now, uh, people doing any number of things that really engage this question of what it takes for us to respond and to be interdependent, to really build that interdependence with each other.
26:49
Everything from rallies, to mutual aid actions, to barbecues and cookouts, uh, to banner drops all over the country, responding really to this question of how we fight back fascism and really bring this country into its promise.
29:38
but being with, with other, other people.
29:40
Absolutely.
29:43
I think, um, that...
29:44
Even immediately after the election, that was what we were noticing, what we were seeing.
