Well, to get us started, Congresswoman, can you describe some of the ways people in Oregon are already feeling the impacts of climate change? And tell us a little bit about your leadership on combating ocean acidification in particular.

Terrific.

Well, people in Oregon, like people across the country and really around the globe, are already seeing the effects of climate change.

And in Oregon, I represent the first district, which is the northwest part of the state, northwest one-sixth of the state.

And it's where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.

And I represent a good part of the Oregon coast, the north coast of Oregon.

And I have represented Oregon coast since I joined Congress in 2012.

Right.

Right.Um, and Congress actually set up what's called a contingency fund to get through emergencies.

And, and this outrageous administration decided that they were gonna use hungry children and families as pawns and say, "Well, we're not gonna use that money, so to continue SNAP benefits," thinking that it would drive the Democrats to support some sort of bad budget bill that would increase health care costs for American people.

So, it was really wrong for them to threaten.

Um, our delegation, uh, my colleagues, Democratic colleagues across the country, did a lot of work to step up.

Uh, last Friday we had a good round table in, uh, discussion here in Oregon.

Uh, yesterday morning in Washington DC, uh, the Steering and Policy Committee had, uh, a, a shadow hearing.
